Blizzard was christened via a campus-wide competition on January 31, 1997. The "T" in his name stands for "The."
Blizzard appears at Michigan Tech's home sporting events as well as other university and community functions. He is often seen skating in the hockey arena before and during home games and participating in various other activities. Blizzard appeared at the 41st Annual GLI (Great Lakes Invitational) hockey tournament held at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan, along with fellow mascots Sparty ( Michigan State University ) and Joe College (the GLI Tournament). Blizzard returned this year for the 42nd Annual GLI as well.

As a longtime fan of Michigan Tech, I have to say that I am extremely disappointed with the new mascot. The design is lackluster and does not represent the spirit and energy of our university. It looks more like a cartoon character than a fierce and proud mascot. I believe that a university mascot should inspire and unite the student body, but this new mascot fails to do so. I hope that the university will reconsider and come up with a better design that truly embodies the values and traditions of Michigan Tech.

I was really excited when I heard that Michigan Tech was getting a new mascot, but after seeing it, I can't help but feel let down. The mascot seems generic and does not have any unique characteristics that make it stand out from other university mascots. The colors are also dull and do not pop like they should. It's a shame because I think a good mascot can really elevate school spirit, but in this case, it falls flat.

Honestly, I am quite underwhelmed by the new Michigan Tech mascot. It lacks creativity and looks like a mascot I have seen at countless other universities. I was hoping for something that would represent the unique identity of Michigan Tech, but instead, we got a generic mascot that could easily be mistaken for any other school. I think the university missed a great opportunity to create a mascot that would truly set us apart. Overall, I am disappointed with the choice and hope that they will reconsider in the future.

While I don't hate the new Michigan Tech mascot, I can't say that I love it either. It seems average and doesn't have the impact or originality that I was hoping for. I understand that designing a mascot is a difficult task, but I feel like more could have been done to make it memorable and representative of our university. It's not terrible, but it definitely leaves room for improvement. Hopefully, Michigan Tech will listen to the feedback and make some adjustments to make the mascot truly reflect our school's spirit and values.

The new Michigan Tech mascot lacks personality and doesn't capture the essence of our university. It feels like a half-hearted attempt to create a mascot and does not ignite any sense of school pride in me. I think a mascot should embody the spirit of the university and be a symbol of unity and pride for the students and alumni. Unfortunately, this mascot falls short in that regard. I hope that the university will take the feedback into consideration and reevaluate their mascot design to create something more impactful and representative.
