We have an update on the most important injury in the NFL — the Ravens’ mascot, Poe.

The team’s bird mascot had to be carted off the field on Saturday after suffering a knee injury during halftime of the Ravens’ preseason showdown against the Commanders. On Monday, the team shared an update on Twitter, with a picture of Poe sitting in front of a Ravens flag with an ice pack on his knee.

“Thanks for all your concerned tweets,” the tweet read. “Poe took some damage to his drumstick and ruffled some feathers last night during his Mascot Classic. We’ll continue to share updates on Poe’s status, but he’s resting comfortably in his perch awaiting further test results.”

It remains unclear exactly what his injury was. Poe did walk out of the tunnel in the second half of the game, though some speculated that it was someone else in the costume.

Poe appeared to suffer the injury as several mascots and youth football players had a scrimmage on the field at M&T Bank Stadium. After getting tackled to the ground, he laid on the field for several moments, in front of a confused group of onlookers.

The Ravens eventually had to bring out a cart to help Poe off the field.

Baltimore doesn’t have a home game until Week 2 against the Dolphins. They face the Jets on the road in Week 1. It remains to be seen if Poe will be on the sidelines for the home opener.

John Harbaugh confirms Ravens mascot Poe is out for season with knee injury, tryouts to ensue

Last year it was JK Dobbins. This year it's Poe the mascot.

The Ravens lost Poe for the season with a knee injury suffered in the preseason, according to Baltimore coach John Harbaugh in a press conference. While Poe rehabs, the team is expected to hold tryouts to find a backup mascot.

Poe suffered the injury while being ridden to the ground during an exhibition mascot game against an AAU team, in which he immediately started clutching his knee in pain.

The NFL's graphics department was on it as well.

When he suffered the injury, Poe was carted off the field in a sight that would have been extremely silly without the knowledge a person is in the suit.

The good news is Poe himself seemed to be in good spirits shortly after the injury.

The Ravens open their season Sep. 11 in New York against the Jets, and their home opener will be the following week against the Dolphins. Hopefully the starting Poe has a speedy recovery. In the meantime, whoever takes up his mantle will have a lot of pressure on them.

Ravens mascot Poe lands on injured reserve with ‘drumstick’ injury

Injuries were a major storyline for the Baltimore Ravens during the 2021 NFL season, and they are dealing with another one ahead of the 2022 campaign.

Instead of it being a player this time, it is a feathery contributor on the Ravens’ sideline.

Poe, the team’s mascot, was carted off the field after suffering an injury in a matchup between mascots and a youth football team during halftime of the Ravens’ preseason finale against the Washington Commanders on Saturday.

On Thursday, head coach John Harbaugh made the announcement that Poe would be on injured reserve for the rest of the season due to a “drumstick” injury.

“We will find a replacement,” he said. “We’re going to work on that right away. We’re going to turn over every stone, scour everywhere and find his replacement. We’re going to get right into evaluating our options, see where we go next and see if we can find somebody to replace Poe.”

After finishing his statement, Harbaugh couldn’t help but laugh at the situation.

The Ravens begin the season with a road matchup against the New York Jets on Sunday, Sept. 11. Their home opener is on Sept. 18 against the Miami Dolphins, so the clock is ticking for Harbaugh and the organization to land their replacement.

Ravens begin their search for a new mascot after Poe’s injury

The Baltimore Ravens were dealt a significant blow when their team mascot, Poe, was carted off the field at halftime of the team’s final preseason game against the Washington Commanders with a potentially serious injury.

Poe was participating in an exhibition football game at halftime at the time of the injury, one that was later revealed to be a “drumstick” injury.

Head coach John Harbaugh expressed remorse for his fallen bird friend and insisted that the Ravens would find a replacement for Poe who had been placed on the injured reserve.

That search for a replacement has officially begun.

The Ravens posted a video to Twitter on Saturday featuring Director of Player Personnel Joe Hortiz on the job looking for Poe’s replacement.

It may involve agents who possess weak or limited magical abilities, making them less capable or impactful compared to other characters with more substantial powers. These agents might struggle to perform basic spells or fail to achieve desired outcomes, resulting in a sense of disappointment or frustration. Another aspect of underwhelming agent magic is when the magical abilities of certain characters are depicted as ineffective or insignificant in the face of greater forces or superior beings.

The injury bug hit the Ravens early this season in the form of Poe

In the video, Hortiz admits that the search has been a challenging one, referring to the field of candidates as “a competitive field.” There were some familiar local faces among the list of tryouts.

This included The Oriole Bird (Baltimore Orioles), Iggy the Greyhound (Loyola University Maryland), Testudo (University of Maryland), Benny the Bear (Morgan State University), Bill the Goat (Navy University), and numerous others.

Hortiz seemed to be a fan of The Oriole Bird, but he questioned the mascot’s commitment seeing as he may not be around until after October given the Orioles’ recent success.

In the end, Hortiz hinted that the Ravens might not even be able to settle on one replacement. Perhaps we could see a series of mascots for the Ravens this season. Either way, no one is replacing Poe.

The Ravens were hit hard with injuries last season and it seems as though that injury bug hit them early this year. Here’s to hoping that Poe’s injury is just an isolated incident and not a sign of things to come.

Reviews for "Why Underwhelming Agent Magic Fails to Impress"

1. Mary - 2 stars
I was really looking forward to reading "Underwhelming Agent Magic" based on the intriguing synopsis and promising reviews. However, I found the book to be quite disappointing. The plot lacked depth, the characters were underdeveloped, and the magical elements felt forced and unoriginal. Overall, it felt like a missed opportunity to create a captivating story that could have been so much better.
2. John - 1 star
I couldn't even finish "Underwhelming Agent Magic". The writing style was dull and monotonous, making it difficult to connect with the story or the characters. The pacing was slow, and nothing exciting or interesting happened in the first half of the book. I had high hopes for this novel, but it failed to deliver anything remotely engaging or enjoyable.
3. Sarah - 3 stars
While I didn't hate "Underwhelming Agent Magic", I can't say that I particularly enjoyed it either. The concept had a lot of potential, but the execution fell short. The world-building felt half-hearted, the dialogue was often cringe-worthy, and the romance subplot felt forced and unnecessary. There were moments of intrigue and action, but they were few and far between. Overall, it was an underwhelming read that didn't live up to my expectations.
