Enchanting is immune to magic

So - I don't know the mechanics.

My character is, what, a breton? The race that get's the MR bonus. I have the perk. And I know the enchant. What I want to do is get all 8 dragon priest masks, and historically, I've lost patience with that because they do enough magic damage to handily one-shot me. With all the potions and protections I can find - still a one-shot.

So Imma try again, gods dammit! And this time, I intend to laugh at their pitiful magics while I carve them into ribbons, and weave a blanket for my fireplace from their dry, dessicated skin.

So, this is my question: How high can I push MR, and what works? If I have the enchants, do potions even add anything? Does MR and stuff like Resist Cold potions stack?

I think it caps 85% and you can get there by enchanting items with the Resist Magic enchantment.

First you need to learn the enchantment from a magic item at the enchatment table, then you can apply it to any acceptable item. The higher ypur enchanting skill and better Soul gem, the higher the % will be for Magic resitance on the item.

At full 100 enchanting skill you can even put 2 enchantments on a single item. So using magic resistance with whatever attack skill enchantment you are using really can make you OP

Enchanting is my highest skill (like, ever - I'm entirely baffled it got so high), it's already at like 96 or 97. So that's not too shabby. Double enchanting, here I go.

Magic resist is easy for a Breton.
You get 25% as a racial bonus, you can get 25% by picking the Lord stone, and 15% for completing the Riften temple of Mara quest. So you only need 20% from items to reach the cap of 85%, which can easily be found or crafted in rings and amulets.

Resist Magic caps at 85%.
But the various elemental resistances also cap at 85%, so with dual enchantment perk you can get nearly 98% resistance to a spell, you just need the Resist Fire/Resist Shock/Resist Frost enchantments.

Obviously you can't have 98% for each element, so if you are getting hit with multiple elements you need to balance the resist enchantments to maximize your chances of surviving all the spells.

Isnt Solitude faster? Much more people in the area.

Riften is more compact so you hit the entire city. Not sure if it reaches the entire Solitude but if you do it's possible.

Without the use of glitches, i believe you can obtain like 77% resistance in just one enchantment in fire, shock or frost.

For magic resistance as a breton?
25% racial
25% lord stone
15% mara's gift
2 levels of 10% in that alteration perk

Then have 3 enchantments of 77% in each of fire, shock and frost, however you really don't need this, it is complete overkill.

Edit: Do know that your resistances (except decease which can be 100%), are capped at 85%, yours, as the character. Everything else in the game can have 100%, so if you have a follower, give them one in each enchantments of fire, shock and frost with at least 70%, then give them that dragon priest mask. Otar i believe?, which has 30% in fire, shock and frost. They will be completely immune to elemental attacks.

So Mjoll can also reach high MR? Hm, good to know. I have her enchanted for Heavy Armor skill, but that's not much use against the dragon priests.
