- Magic Stimulates The Mind. I spite of the best efforts of the magician, the audience is always trying to figure out 'how does he do that'? Magic at its core is a puzzle to be solved - just like a jigsaw. Audiences will try and figure it out. It's human nature but when the magic is presented really well, the audience will forget to ask that question and just sit back and enjoy it.
- Magic Is Engaging. In order to enjoy the show, the audience has to actively participate. They have to watch, listen and follow along otherwise they won't be amazed. With a musical performance, they can close your eyes and listen (and sometimes even fall asleep!). That's not fair to the performer or to themselves. They can 'tune out' a singer, but they don't want to with a good magician.

They need people to come up to the front and interact in a non-embarrassing way with the magician by picking cards, cutting ropes and examining props. Volunteers also corral the entire audience because the magician is now interacting with 'one of them'. - Magic Is Nostalgic. So is music but not quite on the same level. While a song will bring back a great memory, a lot of seniors have actually done a simple magic trick for their grandchildren or have had a quarter pulled from their ear as a child.
