Throughout her time in the magical house, Lily learns valuable lessons about friendship, courage, and the power of imagination.
The sequel to the movie “The Witch: Part 1 – The Subversion” is scheduled to come out later this year.
According to FT Sports on December 4th, “The Witch: Part 2” is scheduled to be released in mid-2022, and in addition to leading actors Kim Da-mi and Jo Min-soo, Lee Jong-suk, Park Eun-bin, Cynthia, and Jin-goo are confirmed to join the cast.
“The Witch: Part 2” is a sequel to “The Witch: Part 1 – The Subversion”, which was released in 2018, directed by Park Hoon-jung, who were credited for “New World” and “Night in Paradise”. The first part of “The Witch” exceeded 3 million admissions with explosive action sequences featuring Kim Da-mi.
However, director Park Hoon-jung revealed that the main character of “The Witch: Part 2” is Cynthia, instead of Kim Da-mi.
The reason the main character is changed from Kim Da-mi to Cynthia is that Warner Bros. Korea, which owns the movie rights, withdrew from related businesses such as investment, production, and distribution of Korean films.

As for this significant change of the main character, Kim Da-mi, who took on the female lead role in “The Witch: Part 1”, is said to only make a special appearance in the sequel.

Witch casts half a spell at Artistic Home
In Jen Silverman’s 2018 play, Witch, the devil goes down to a quiet English village and finds a lot more than he bargained for, including a supposed witch who is surprisingly resistant to selling her soul. Loosely based on The Witch of Edmonton, a 1621 play by Thomas Dekker, William Rowley, and John Ford, Silverman’s version retains the Jacobean setting but feels very modern in its treatment of themes such as capitalism, privilege, queerness, misogyny, and toxic masculinity.

Milwaukee, 773-697-3830, theartistichome.org, $35 ($20 students/seniors)After missing Silverman’s The Moors at A Red Orchid Theatre last year, I had high hopes for my first viewing of Witch, directed by Devon Carson at the Artistic Home. However, this dark comedy didn’t quite pack the punch I was expecting. While the script is often funny, especially when its 17 th -century characters use 21 st -century idioms with a wink and a nod, there’s an unevenness in tone that left me unsure of exactly what the playwright and director were trying to achieve.
Julian Hester is charming and suave in the role of the devil—well, not the devil, but a junior salesman named Scratch from a hell that is portrayed as a modern corporation, à la C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters. When he arrives in Edmonton, Scratch immediately strikes deals for the souls of Cuddy Banks (Declan Collins)—the Morris dancing-obsessed son of stodgy Sir Arthur Banks (Todd Wojcik)—and Frank Thorney (Ernest Henton), the wealthy landowner’s ambitious protege who poses a threat to Cuddy’s inheritance.
But when he unsuccessfully tries to tempt Elizabeth Sawyer (Kristin Collins), an attractive, middle-aged woman who has been labeled a witch in a classic case of Jacobean slut-shaming, Scratch begins to question everything in a demon’s equivalent of a quarter-life crisis. Elizabeth and the other female character—Frank’s long-suffering secret wife, Winnifred (Ariana Lopez)—are the only ones who see the rottenness at the core of their society, and Elizabeth longs to burn it all down.
The comedy works well in Carson’s production, but there seems to be a hesitation to fully embrace the play’s darker elements and its erotic undertones. Of course, it’s difficult to strike the right balance in the genre of dark comedy, and it doesn’t help that many of the scenes are staged at an unnecessary distance from the front row. For a spooky-season show with such a title, Witch plays it a bit too safe.
She embarks on thrilling quests and overcomes obstacles with the help of her newfound friends. The DVD serves as a portal for Lily to escape her everyday life and immerse herself in a world of fantasy. One of the most captivating aspects of the magical house DVD is its stunning animation. The colors are vibrant, and the attention to detail is extraordinary. Viewers will feel as though they are right there beside Lily, experiencing the magic firsthand. Ultimately, the magical house DVD is a heartwarming tale that reminds us of the importance of believing in the extraordinary. It encourages viewers to embrace their imagination and to never lose sight of the wonder in the world around them. The story is perfect for both children and adults alike, as it captures the universal sense of wonder and curiosity that resides within all of us.
