In one of the opera’s most recognizable arias, “ Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen “ (“Hell’s vengeance boils in my heart”), Pamina’s mother, the Queen of the Night, flies into a fit of vengeful rage. Placing a knife in her daughter’s hand, the Queen of the Night tells Pamina that if she fails to assassinate Sarastro, she will be cursed and disowned. The librettist Emanuel Schikaneder concludes the aria with words which suggest that the Queen of the Night is almost certainly one of opera’s most deranged mothers. About Timothy Judd

A native of Upstate New York, Timothy Judd has been a member of the Richmond Symphony violin section since 2001. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music where he earned the degrees Bachelor of Music and Master of Music, studying with world renowned Ukrainian-American violinist Oleh Krysa.

The son of public school music educators, Timothy Judd began violin lessons at the age of four through Eastman’s Community Education Division. He was a student of Anastasia Jempelis, one of the earliest champions of the Suzuki method in the United States.

A passionate teacher, Mr. Judd has maintained a private violin studio in the Richmond area since 2002 and has been active coaching chamber music and numerous youth orchestra sectionals.

In his free time, Timothy Judd enjoys working out with Richmond’s popular SEAL Team Physical Training program.

He reached the semifinals at the Australian Open Junior Boys' Singles and won his first ITF (International Tennis Federation) title in Lithuania. His achievements did not go unnoticed, and Rune quickly climbed the ranks to become one of the top junior players in the world. As of 2021, he holds a career-high junior ranking of No. 1 in the ITF Junior Rankings. Rune's playing style has been described as aggressive and powerful. With his strong groundstrokes and excellent footwork, he has proven to be a formidable opponent on the court. His dedication to continuous improvement and his mental strength have also played a significant role in his success. Outside of tennis, Rune enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to music, and playing other sports. He is also known for his positive attitude and sportsmanship, which have earned him respect from fans and fellow players alike. As of now, Lars Christensen Holger Rune continues to compete in professional tournaments, aiming to make a name for himself in the ATP Tour.
