Two free magic plug-ins from Baby Audio are now available for iOS

Baby Audio has announced two new free plug-ins for Apple iOS: Magic Dice and Magic Switch. The developer has long offered a number of freebies on its website, but this is the first time Magic Switch and Magic Dice have been made available in AUv3 format for iPad and iPhone.

Magic Dice is a delay, reverb and modulation plug-in capable of spacey haze and lush spacious reverbs. In Baby Audio’s words, the plug-in “generates random and dreamy wet-effects textures with every new click, and you’ll never hear the same effect twice. Magic Dice is powered by our award-winning Spaced Out plug-in.”
Magic Switch, meanwhile, is a one-button Juno-inspired chorus take from Baby Audio’s Super VHS plug-in. While Magic Switch is definitely a tool for instant flashes of the 1980s, “it is not a direct emulation of the Juno-chorus,” says Baby Audio, explaining that it is its “own idea of a perfect one-button chorus in the DAW-era, where clean sounds are easy but authentic colour is hard. Magic Switch goes further than the Juno chorus and gives you a beautifully detuned, rich and moody effect for adding vintage modulation to your tracks.
The brand adds that “the idea that you can make music anywhere, with the same device that is already in your pocket, is the kind of thing that gets us excited for the future of music production. And we’ll be designing future products with both desktop users and mobile users in mind – whether that means doing the same thing for both platforms or offering different workflows.”
