The biggest reason I think for the hand wing's lack of coolness in general is just Kishimoto's art style. The stark contrast between the bland solid color and flat body of his typical character and the intricate and jagged look of the wings makes for an awkward overall appearance. If for instance Kishimoto went all out and made the entirety of Sasuke go all savage demon looking instead of just part of him, then while many Sasuke fan girls would weep, he would be in all a much more artistically flowing and appealing image. We have the blatant purple lipstick, the fact that he is still as skinny and smooth skinned as he has always been, and then just randomly two giant hands with little nubs all over them jutting from the back. My favorite Curse Seal Sasuke was actually a fan art where I think a fan pulled it off alot better then Kishimoto did. The fan art was by enzomars.
