The Witch's Revenge: Tales from the House of the Witch

By admin

The house of the witch is a topic that has fascinated and intrigued people for centuries. It conjures up images of dark, mysterious, and supernatural happenings. The idea of a witch living in a house filled with magic and spells is both captivating and terrifying. In folklore and literature, the house of the witch is often depicted as a place of evil and danger, where unsuspecting individuals may fall victim to the witch's powers. However, the house of the witch can also be seen as a symbol of empowerment and independence for women who were often persecuted and oppressed during witch trials. It represents a space where women could freely practice their craft and connect with the mystical forces of the universe.

I adapted my routine "Mental Flip Flop" (see the June 2012 Linking Ring Parade for IBM Ring 103) to a superhero theme. The patter is that as a magician I have magic powers. But there are other people who have special powers. Superheroes! Then I show my Jacob's Ladder with comic book covers of six different super heroes. One hero is "chosen" by the audience and it is seen that all the comic book covers have blue backs--except the chosen one, which has a yellow back. Then the backs change to six different colors--and the covers change to six comic covers of the same superhero. PM me with your email address and I can maybe send you a small, silent mpeg video of the routine. (Digital movie files are sometimes too large for attaching in a Café message.)

Despite Adam s issues and poor luck, he s likely one of the most moral heroes in the Marvel Universe which is something that often puts him at odds with the others. Being a super hero is more like being Harry Potter, and you may want to reconsider what you would do to be more in line with what a comic book super hero would do.

It represents a space where women could freely practice their craft and connect with the mystical forces of the universe. In popular culture, the house of the witch continues to be a prevalent theme in horror movies and books, serving as the setting for terrifying and suspenseful stories. Whether seen as malevolent or empowering, the house of the witch remains a fascinating concept that captivates our collective imagination and continues to inspire many creative works.

THE SUPER HERO RACE

No, it’s the Super Hero Race: The latest version of Kimmo’s classic effect!

It’s the fun and exciting game that is also a trick! The kids go crazy for this one and the adults are left scratching their heads and wondering how on earth it’s done!

A child takes on three adults in a Superhero themed race game. Despite what seems like totally fair conditions, the child wins every time!

24 cards are handed out to be FREELY AND GENUINELY SHUFFLED by spectators. The cards depict classic comic book ‘sound effects’ in red, yellow, blue and green.

Meanwhile, a child is recruited and is told that he/she will take part in a Superhero race against three adults. There is fun and byplay as the rivals are chosen and encouraged to ‘trash talk’ the young volunteer. The adults get to choose their favourite colour Superhero (there is no force whatsoever). The child must take whichever colour is left.

The cards are retrieved and then the Super Hero Race begins!

POW! BIFF! SOK!

One by one, cards are taken from the top of the stack and turned over to reveal the colour of the hero who will move along the track. The race gets very exciting and the children always raise the roof in response! It looks like the child’s superhero is lagging behind but then suddenly it jumps forward and catches up. Maybe a photo finish will be required! Everything rests on the turn of one card!

Imagine the reactions from the crowd when the final card is spun round to reveal that the child is the winner!

The original version of this routine was the SMASH HIT of Trix in the Stix 2013, Kidabra 2013 and KAX 2014.
