Exploring the Virtual World of Webkinz: A Decade of Fun with the Webkinz Cat

By admin

Webkinz is a popular virtual pet world that was created by Canadian toy company Ganz. It was launched in 2005 and has since gained a large following of children and even some adults. The concept of Webkinz revolves around buying a stuffed animal (known as a Webkinz pet) and entering a unique code found on a special tag attached to the toy. This code allows the player to create a virtual version of their pet online, where they can take care of it and play various games to earn virtual currency called KinzCash. One of the most popular Webkinz pets is the 10 Year Magic W Cat, which was created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Webkinz in 2015. This particular pet is known for its magical abilities and colorful appearance.

Missing Magic W?

I was shopping online for some Webkinz on my want list and there was a seller who had a St. Bernard who was missing the on his paws. I tried searching for more pets and it didn't seem like they were common, however a few people for a cheap and reasonable price. The only time I've seen one in real life that at a dollar store. It was an alley cat with no tag, however you could tell it was in "used" condition.

So with that being said, how common is a plush pet with no Magic W? Do you have one yourself?

I remember the ones without W's being bragged about a lot back in the 2008-2010.
They sold for a lot back then too.
I've never personally had one without a magic W.

The first ones did not have it. I think they added it to help distinguish them from their other plush animals. Ganz sells a ton that are not Webkinz.

Thanks guys! Do you think it adds value to collection or no? The most expensive one I found online was a Love Puppy that was Magic W-less for $500, however the other ones were ranges between $10-$30 otherwise.

I think one not having a magic W is pretty neat, but I'd definitely not pay $500 just for that. Haha. Collection value? I think it does bring a little bit of value.
You know, talking about this has made me want to buy a cheap one. xD

Reviews for "The Webkinz Cat: From Virtual Pet to Iconic Symbol of Webkinz Magic for a Decade"

1. Jane - 1/5
I was really disappointed with the Webkinz 10 year magic white cat. First of all, the toy itself was poorly made. The stitching was already coming apart when I took it out of the box, and the material felt cheap and flimsy. The magic feature was also a letdown. It was supposed to do all these cool tricks, but it barely moved and the sound it made was irritating. Overall, I found the quality and functionality of this toy to be extremely lacking.
2. Mike - 2/5
I was not impressed with the Webkinz 10 year magic white cat. The magic aspect of it was underwhelming, to say the least. The cat's supposed special abilities were limited to basic movements and repetitive sounds, which got old very quickly. The design and appearance were also subpar. The cat didn't look as cute or as well-made as in the promotional pictures. It just felt like a lackluster addition to the Webkinz collection, and I wouldn't recommend it to others.
3. Sarah - 1/5
I regret purchasing the Webkinz 10 year magic white cat. The whole "magic" aspect of it was a complete gimmick. The cat barely did anything, and the few actions it performed were repetitive and boring. On top of that, the toy itself felt cheap and poorly made. The fabric was rough, and the seams were already starting to come undone after just a few days of play. It was a waste of money and a major disappointment.
