Why must all magic teachers master the basics of forbidden dark magic?

In the school of fine magic, all magic teachers must undergo a course on forbidden dark magic such as witchcraft and voodoo curses and achieve a satisfactory result in the exam before they are qualified as a teacher. It is forbidden so they can only do theory but they must also swear never to teach their students anything on dark magic. Why bother getting into dark magic when you can neither use it nor talk about it?

$\begingroup$ It's close, but I see a question of societal motivation. OP wants to know: My society is structured like so. Here are reasons this might not make sense. Why do things have to be this way nonetheless? I.e. the OP is really asking: why will society fall apart if this is not the way things are done? This seems be a question about culture (explicitly listed as on topic) and is likely to "inspire answers that explain "why" and "how"" as defined in the help center. $\endgroup$

1. John - 1 out of 5 stars - I was really disappointed with Ultimate Magic 400. The tricks were incredibly basic and uninspiring. Most of them were things I had seen before and could easily figure out the gimmick behind. The instructional videos were also poorly produced and hard to follow. Overall, I felt like I wasted my money on this product and would not recommend it to anyone looking for quality magic tricks.
2. Sarah - 2 out of 5 stars - I had high hopes for Ultimate Magic 400, but unfortunately, it fell short for me. The tricks were a mix of old classics and some new ones, but none of them really wowed me. The instructional videos were okay, but some of the explanations were not very clear. Additionally, the gimmicks included were of mediocre quality and I found myself needing to replace them soon after starting to use them. Overall, it was an underwhelming experience and I wouldn't choose this magic set again.
3. Chris - 1 out of 5 stars - Ultimate Magic 400 was a major disappointment. The tricks included in the set were outdated and lacked any kind of wow factor. The instructional videos were poorly made, making it difficult to understand the instructions for each trick. I also found that some of the props included were of poor quality and easily broke. I was not satisfied with this product at all and would not recommend it to anyone serious about learning and performing magic tricks.
4. Emily - 2 out of 5 stars - I was excited to try out Ultimate Magic 400, but unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. The tricks included were mostly basic and didn't seem very impressive or unique. The instructional videos were alright, although I would have preferred more detailed explanations and demonstrations.
