The Returner's Magic Should Be Special: Lessons in Resilience and Perseverance

By admin

The Returner's Magic Should Be Special is a Korean web novel written by Jeon Sun-Wook and illustrated by So-Nan-Yi. It is a fantasy genre that revolves around the protagonist, Desir Arman. The story follows Desir as he returns to the past to prevent an apocalyptic disaster and save his friends and the world. The central theme of the novel is the uniqueness and power of the Returner's magic. In this universe, Returners are individuals who possess the ability to turn back time and alter events. They have the opportunity to fix mistakes and change the course of history.

I only picked up this novel because its listing in my digital borrowing app from my local library said it was a ‘blindingly brilliant piece of sci-fi’. I thought it couldn’t be that bad. And it wasn’t horrific, but nor would I recommend it.

With abilities that seem to only get them into trouble, and branded as aggressors and thieves, Tony and Tia are alone in the world with only each other for support. Tony wasn t much better, and Father O Dey could have done with a deeper and more commanding voice especially since he s the priest that adds validity to their claim that they aren t the devil s work.

They have the opportunity to fix mistakes and change the course of history. However, this power comes at a cost, and the Returner's magic is limited. Desir, the main character, discovers his ability to time travel and decides to use it to prevent an unknown tragedy that destroyed his world.

As a Returner, Desir's magic is special because it is scarce and unique. The scarcity of his powers adds an element of urgency to his mission, as he must make the most out of every opportunity to alter events. The novel portrays the Returner's magic as a skill that can be honed and improved over time. Desir goes through numerous challenges and undergoes rigorous training to enhance his abilities. Through dedication and perseverance, he becomes stronger and gains a better understanding of his powers. Furthermore, the Returner's magic is also special because it enables Desir to learn from his past experiences. By returning to the past, he can correct his mistakes and learn from them, making him a more formidable force against future obstacles. The novel emphasizes the responsibility that comes with possessing such a unique power. Desir must make difficult decisions and sacrifices to achieve his goals. He is constantly faced with moral dilemmas as he must navigate through different timelines, weighing the consequences of his actions. Overall, The Returner's Magic Should Be Special highlights the importance and impact of the Returner's magic. It showcases the extraordinary abilities that come with being a Returner and the significance of using these powers wisely. Desir's journey of self-discovery and the challenges he faces make for an engaging and thought-provoking read..
