The Curse of the Brown Squirrel

Only a few miles from where the great and expansive I-75 meets the always-backed-up I-40, there sits a furniture store. This store may look unassuming at first glance, with it's plain exterior and unassuming background. You may think nothing of this building if you saw it for the first time, and you would undoubtedly think less of it if you lived in the area. Many drive by every day without giving it a second thought.

Yet, this place hides a dark secret. A very deceptive and troubling truth lurks beneath the surface, nay, the facade this place holds up to the light. For you see, the cute and caramel mascot that stands out front, plastered on a billboard, greeting every passerby with a blank stare, is more than meets the eye.

At one time, this was a real, living, breathing squirrel that ran among the trees and hills of the area, swerving cars and being a nuisance to dogs. He was playful, hungry, skittery, all the of the best qualities the creatures belonging to the Sciuridae family can have. Yet, on one fateful day, he commited a cardinal sin that would change his life forever. Our furry friend, juking out a toyota sienna right behind what would later become this fated hall of beds and cabinets, ran into a field contaiing many cows. His sudden appearance startled and angered the bovines in the area, and they ran away from the small creature in their midst. In the uproar, one small calf was separated from its mother and ran into the hills, just trying to find somewhere safe to stay. After the commotion settled down, the calf was discovered missing and was assumed dead. The cows cursed the squirrel to a life of limbo, staring at the statue of the mayfield cow across the busy interstate to forever remember his crime.

The squirrel contains much regret, much sadness, and much hate to this day. Looking into his eye is said to curse you as, as his rage spills from the beige and chocolate sign. But you have not to worry, as simply looking across to the other side, into the deep windows into the Mayfield cow's soul , the curse will be lifted

A friend told me when I first moved to knoxville many years ago of the curse of the brown squirrel, just a fun game like the 'punchbuggy' game, and it's stuck in my head since. I can't drive down 40 without feeling myself being drawn to sneak a peek, and then immediately feeling compelled to find the cow, knowing full well that obviously nothing will happen. And yet, bad things do start to happen if I miss the cow. Bad luck, or something more sinister.

1. John - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with "Magic City Fivio Foreign". I found the lyrics to be repetitive and lacked depth. The beats were uninspiring and there was nothing unique about the album. It felt like I was listening to a generic trap album that offered nothing new to the genre. Overall, I was left feeling underwhelmed and would not recommend it to others.
2. Sarah - 1 star - I can't believe how much I disliked "Magic City Fivio Foreign". The album felt like a collection of random songs that had no cohesion or flow. The production was lackluster and the autotune was overused to the point where it became annoying. The lyrics were forgettable and did not leave a lasting impression. I was expecting more from Fivio Foreign, but unfortunately, this album did not deliver.
3. Mike - 2 stars - I was not impressed with "Magic City Fivio Foreign". The songs lacked any originality and sounded like generic trap music that has been done before. The album didn't offer anything new or exciting, and I found myself getting bored halfway through. The lack of creativity was disappointing, and I would not recommend this album to anyone looking for something fresh and innovative.
4. Emily - 2.5 stars - While "Magic City Fivio Foreign" had a few catchy tracks, overall, I found it to be a mediocre album. The beats were somewhat enjoyable, but the lyrics were forgettable and didn't leave a lasting impression. I was hoping for more substance and depth in the songs, but they fell flat for me. It's not a terrible album, but it's not one that I would go back to or recommend to others.
5. Brandon - 2 stars - "Magic City Fivio Foreign" was a disappointment for me. The album lacked cohesiveness and the songs felt disjointed. The auto-tuned vocals became grating after a while, and the lack of variety in the production left me wanting more. There were a few standout tracks, but overall, I found the album to be forgettable and not worth revisiting.
