Tapping into Darkness: Utilizing the Current of the Demon Inrb

By admin

Curse of the Demon is a 1957 British horror film directed by Jacques Tourneur and starring Dana Andrews, Peggy Cummins, and Niall MacGinnis. The film follows an American psychologist, Dr. John Holden, who investigates a cult and their leader, Julian Karswell, who is believed to have the power to summon a demon. The curse is said to result in the death of anyone who challenges Karswell's power. Holden initially dismisses the idea of the supernatural and believes that Karswell is simply a charlatan exploiting people's fears. However, as he delves deeper into the mystery, Holden begins to encounter strange occurrences and witnesses the deaths of those who have crossed Karswell.

This week I wanted to share a particularly impressive tool that I have been using with my D&D5e campaigns, both as a Player and a DM when creating Spell Casters. This tool will save you countless amounts of time when preparing a new player character or having an NPC that has a particular set of spells they can use. The webpage is simply named D&D-Spells.

From the creator’s page: “I thought that a tool where you could select the spells for your class, the spells you like or even have prepared in combination with a single magic button to print them all out wouldn’t be so hard to do, and then it began.”

Of course, DND Beyond and many other 3rd Party free apps have come out as great tools for easy reference of spells, but I am kinda old fashioned and like to have all the spells my character can use in front of me on a printed-out piece of paper that I can staple to the back of my character sheet. Also you might be wondering; “Why not simply go out and spend the extra money or so and get all of the official Wizards of the Coast spell cards to have on hand.”

1.) I don’t feel like I should have to spend a ridiculous amount of money for more “convenience”

2.) I then have to worry about maintaining the cards, carrying around more stuff if I am DM-ing, and keeping them in a separate place than my character sheet.

Both of these things don’t seem very “convenient” to me. And this website is a lot faster than what I used to do which was finding each spell on a website or from the SRD and copying and pasting it all into a Word Document.

So how do I use this tool?

So as you can see from the screenshots I provided from the website below, the page has options to sort the spells available by Class, Level, School, Casting Time, Ritual, Concentration, and Source ( PHB , SCAG , and Elemental Evil ). So simply sort what spells you are looking for, check the boxes, and press create spell-cards. You can also customize how you would like them to display (Portrait or Landscape). So hopefully this tool helps many of you save the time that I have been saving lately. And of course, there are many options out there for the same reference. So if this is not the approach you want to use, that is OK too. You do you! 😀 For more awesome tools and stuff for you to use in your games. Tourneur masterfully employs shadowy lighting and a haunting score to create an eerie atmosphere that keeps audiences on edge. The scenes involving the demon are particularly memorable, with the creature's presence and power felt even when it remains unseen. The narrative unfolds as Holden races against time to decipher the meaning behind Karswell's cryptic warnings and find a way to break the curse. He seeks the help of Joanna Harrington, the niece of one of Karswell's victims, who becomes an ally in his quest. Together, they navigate a world of dark magic and sinister forces, culminating in a thrilling climax that reveals the true nature of the curse. Curse of the Demon explores themes of skepticism, belief, and the persistence of evil. It challenges the notion that science and rationality can explain everything, offering a cautionary tale about the dangers of dismissing the supernatural. The film also serves as a commentary on the power of fear and how it can manipulate and control individuals. Overall, Curse of the Demon is a classic horror film that remains engrossing and chilling to this day. Tourneur's direction and the performances of the cast elevate the suspense and make the supernatural elements feel hauntingly real. It stands as a testament to the enduring power of atmospheric horror and continues to be celebrated as a landmark film in the genre..
