  3. Introducing Gulliver: California Coast University’s New Official Mascot
By CCU Staff

When California Coast University decided to create a mascot, we had to think about who or what we wanted it to be. We thought “California Coast” “coastline” “ocean” something that would relate to our name and the coast. In our logo, there was a seagull and we thought let's choose the seagull for our mascot.

Next, our seagull needed to have a name. We launched a competition at the University for faculty and staff to name the “gull.” After the votes were counted, the winning name was “Gulliver.” We thought the name was perfect because Gulliver, as in Gulliver’s Travels, would be traveling around the country with different staff members to events and meeting the public.

As we are still putting the finishing touches on Gulliver, we will keep you posted on his launch date. Also, watch for Gulliver’s Facebook page where he will keep our students and graduates updated on his travels.

For more information on Gulliver’s creator, please read this article on Angela Cenina, California Coast University Registrar, faculty member, and artist.

1. John - 2 stars - I found "Circumnavigate the Mascot" to be a confusing and disjointed story. The plot jumps around from one event to another without any clear connection, making it difficult to follow and engage with the characters. The writing style was also overly descriptive and repetitive, which slowed down the pacing of the story. Overall, I was disappointed with this book and would not recommend it.
2. Sarah - 3 stars - While I appreciated the unique concept of "Circumnavigate the Mascot," I felt that the execution fell flat. The characters lacked depth and development, making it difficult to connect with their struggles and motivations. Additionally, the dialogue felt forced and unnatural, detracting from the overall reading experience. The plot also had a tendency to drag on unnecessarily, causing me to lose interest in the story. While there were some interesting elements, I found this book to be underwhelming.
3. Michael - 2 stars - "Circumnavigate the Mascot" was a confusing and convoluted mess. The narrative structure was all over the place, with multiple timelines and perspectives that made it difficult to keep track of what was happening. The characters were one-dimensional, and their actions and decisions lacked logical reasoning. I found myself constantly questioning the purpose and relevance of certain plot points. Overall, this book was a disappointment and left me feeling unsatisfied.
4. Emily - 2 stars - The writing style of "Circumnavigate the Mascot" was unnecessarily complicated and filled with overly elaborate metaphors and descriptions. It felt like the author was trying too hard to impress with their prose, but it ended up being distracting and confusing. The story itself was lacking in substance and failed to engage me on an emotional level. I struggled to connect with the characters and their journey, leading to a lackluster reading experience. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this book.
