American Neo-Paganism is a new religious movement imported to the states from Britain in the 1930s. As a new religious movement, Neo-Pagans are, for the first time, dealing with the death of members, and as such have had to create funeral ritual of whole cloth. This study is, first and foremost, an ethnographic field account of seven funeral rituals in American Neo-Pagan communities in diverse locations throughout the United States. On basis of this ethnographic evidence, I show that Neo-Pagans visualize their dead as retaining agency, while participants in the American civil religion do not. I describe the American civil funeral cycle and the changes that have been imposed upon it by technological advances over the past 40 years. I propose that the Neo-Pagan changes to the American civil funeral cycle are informed by a theology of immanence that is juxtaposed against, and placed in competition with, the civil religion. This has the effect of creating plural, competing afterlives for any decedent who participated in both an intentional community and the American civil religion. On basis of this data, I revisit Arnold van Gennep's classic model for the rite of passage and propose an emendation that allows for the decedent to be incorporated into plural afterlives in a plural society. I propose a model for post-mortem identity formation consistent with the plural afterlives that appear in the ethnographic record. 1. Sarah - 1/5 stars - I was really disappointed with "Dolby stomach magic revision". The whole experience was uncomfortable for me. The intense vibrations and shaking made me feel nauseous and dizzy throughout the entire movie. I couldn't even focus on the storyline or enjoy the visuals because of how uncomfortable I was feeling. I had to leave the theater halfway through because I couldn't handle it any longer. I would not recommend this experience to anyone who is prone to motion sickness or easily overwhelmed by sensory overload.

Mark - 2/5 stars - While I understand the concept behind "Dolby stomach magic revision" and appreciate the effort put into creating a unique and immersive movie experience, I personally found it to be too overwhelming. The constant shaking and rumbling made it difficult for me to fully appreciate the film. Instead of enhancing the story, it became a distraction and took away from my overall enjoyment. I think this technology would be better suited for action-heavy movies rather than dramas or comedies. It's just not for everyone.

I couldn't fully immerse myself in the movie because I was constantly aware of the physical sensations. It felt gimmicky rather than enhancing the movie-watching experience. I hope they can refine the technology to make it more subtle and less overwhelming in the future. Until then, I won't be experiencing it again.
