The plot is sweet and silly and childish, which is fine by me. The effects and the acting are miserable, but who really cares. There were so many kittens in this. So many. On broomsticks. It features a few well-known faces, including what is basically a glorified cameo from Tim Curry, but it was also one of the early movies of Fairuza Balk, probably best known for movies such as Return to Oz , The Craft and American History X. Unlike The Boy Who Lived, Mildred is an outcast, a misfit, and a terrible, sloppy, disorganized student, but she redeems herself by being brave and gets to fly around on Halloween with the most desired man in witchdom.
She captured Mildred's innocence and determination to prove herself, making her a relatable character for young viewers. Katy Allen portrayed Ethel Hallow, Mildred's nemesis and the school's resident mean girl. Allen's portrayal of Ethel was spot-on, portraying her as a cunning and ambitious witch.
The Worst Witch
Mildred is one of the young girls at a prestigious witch academy. She can't seem to do anything right and is picked on by classmates and teachers. The headmistress of the school, Miss Cackle, has an evil twin sister who plans to destroy the school. Can Mildred foil the plan before the Grand Wizard comes to the Academy for a Halloween celebration you'll never forget.
