9 / 10On a side street north of Hollywood Boulevard, the hotel is two blocks from the Hollywood & Highland shopping mall, the historic Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Walk of Fame. From the Hollywood/Highland stop on the Metro Red Line, trains run to Universal Studios (around 20 minutes) and downtown Los Angeles (30 minutes). The beach at Santa Monica is at least a 30-minute drive away, or an hour by public bus.

6 / 10Given its convenient location, the hotel doesn't have to work very hard to pull in guests. Nevertheless, it's clean, spacious and contemporary, with 40-plus rooms and suites arranged in three-story buildings that are painted sunshine yellow and set amongst tall palm trees. Interior courtyards with decorative fountains add to the laid-back atmosphere.

Secondly, the claim of being waterproof was far from true. I tried using it in the shower, following the instructions, and it stopped working altogether. Overall, I found this product to be a letdown and not worth the money.
