Magic Tree House 14: Day of the Dragon King is the fourteenth book in the Magic Tree House series written by Mary Pope Osborne. This book takes Jack and Annie to ancient China, where they must find four things to help save Teddy, a Panda who has been captured by the Dragon King. Jack and Annie are sent back in time by the Magic Tree House to the Song Dynasty in ancient China. There, they meet a young empress named Zhu, who helps them on their quest. They must find four ancient gifts: a cup of wind, a piece of jade, a sapling from the Great Peace Tree, and a feather from the five-colored dragon. These items are believed to have the power to free Teddy.

About the Author

MARY POPE OSBORNE is the author of the New York Times number one bestselling Magic Tree House series. She and her husband, writer Will Osborne (author of Magic Tree House: The Musical), live in northwestern Connecticut with their three dogs. Ms. Osborne is also the coauthor of the companion Magic Tree House Fact Trackers series with Will, and with her sister, Natalie Pope Boyce.

SAL MURDOCCA has illustrated more than 200 children's trade and text books. He is also a librettist for children's opera, a video artist, an avid runner, hiker, and bicyclist, and a teacher of children's illustration at the Parsons School of Design. 1. John - 2 stars - I found "Magic Tree House 14" to be quite underwhelming. The plot seemed rushed and lacked depth, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and disconnected from the story. Additionally, the characters felt one-dimensional and their actions and motivations were not fully explored. Overall, I was disappointed with this installment of the series and would not recommend it to others.
2. Emily - 1 star - "Magic Tree House 14" was a major letdown for me. The writing style felt juvenile and the story was predictable, lacking any real surprises or excitement. I also found the dialogue to be unrealistic and forced, making it hard to engage with the characters. Overall, I felt that this book did not live up to the previous installments in the series and failed to capture my interest.
