When I went to Valencia Community College East Campus many years ago, I did a report on the origins of the term Valencia, it does nothing to do with an orange it had to do with the city of Valencia Spain. The red color that College used as their primary color was not because red is in the Spanish flag but according to some old Valencia documents it was the color of the blood of the Moors (Muslims), who were defeated by the Christians in Iberia. Oh how times have changed.

Pumas are solitary, vicious and fearful in unfamiliar territory. They kill one another over resources and your mascot has an angry scowl. Everyone wants to be the badass in the room, but that isn't what fosters a warm and welcoming educational environment. Who are you attracting to the school with your branding, and why do we need to evoke a predator as the mascot of the college? I voiced these concerns in the preliminary.

1. John - 1/5 - The Valencia College mascot is an absolute disaster. It's supposed to represent our school spirit and pride, but instead, it looks like a weird cartoon character. The design is poor, the colors are dull, and it doesn't even resemble anything related to our college or its values. It's embarrassing to see this mascot at sporting events or during important college functions. Valencia College needs to seriously reconsider its mascot and come up with something that is more visually appealing and representative of our community.

2. Sarah - 2/5 - The Valencia College mascot simply lacks personality and creativity. It's just a generic-looking character that brings nothing special to our college's atmosphere. As a student, I would love to see a mascot that embodies the spirit and energy of our college. The current mascot fails to deliver that excitement and falls flat in engaging with students. It's time to rethink the mascot and create something that will truly ignite our school pride and unite the student body.

3. Mark - 2/5 - Valencia College's mascot is lackluster and uninspiring. It doesn't bring any enthusiasm or excitement to our campus. If anything, it feels like an afterthought rather than a symbol of our school. The design is generic and forgettable, and it doesn't leave any lasting impression. I believe that a college mascot should be memorable, creating a connection with the students and alumni. Unfortunately, the current mascot fails to do so and feels like a missed opportunity for Valencia College.

4. Rebecca - 3/5 - While the Valencia College mascot is not the worst I've seen, it still leaves much to be desired. The design is average, and it doesn't really stand out compared to other college mascots. It lacks that wow factor and uniqueness that would make it truly representative of our college. It would be great to see a mascot that evokes a sense of pride and unity within the college community. Overall, the current mascot feels like a missed opportunity to showcase our college's spirit and should be improved upon.
