The Future of Thetford Aqua Magic Style II Water Valve Technology and Repair

By admin

The Thetford Aqua Magic Style II water valve fix is a solution for a common issue that occurs with this particular model of RV toilet. The water valve is responsible for controlling the flow of water into the toilet bowl, and when it becomes damaged or faulty, it can lead to leaks and other problems. One of the main problems that people encounter with the water valve is that it becomes stuck in the closed position, preventing water from entering the bowl. This can be a frustrating issue, especially when on the road and in need of a functional toilet. The fix for this issue involves disassembling the toilet and replacing the faulty water valve. It is a relatively straightforward process, but it does require some basic plumbing knowledge and tools.

Thanks Gary. I have seen this before and like before I could not understand what they were saying and how the pics fit with words. Sorry. I am used to a more detailed manual for each configuration without guessing if this or that is what they mean.
I have put silicon on the ball-valve and where the foot assembly enters the base of the the toilet. That works for a bit but how they can sell these and expect owners like myself to understand what they mean is beyond me. I'm sure there are others who feel the same about Thetford and their documentation.

Pulled the peddle again and with close inspection, the black spring loaded arm had formed a tiny DENT in the plastic so when released by foot flushing it reset into the dent and that was not far enough to turn it off. The valve and gasket assembly fails after a couple of years where you have to grease the seal and it wont hold water and even with a rebuild kit it will still fail.

It is a relatively straightforward process, but it does require some basic plumbing knowledge and tools. The first step is to shut off the water supply to the toilet and drain the water from the bowl. Once the water is drained, the next step is to remove the toilet from its mounting and disconnect the water line.

We just opened our camper up this weekend after it's long winters nap. I noticed yesterday afternoon just before leaving that there was a small puddle of water on the right side under where the foot pedal is. I mopped up the water with a paper towel and felt around for water. I used the foot pedal and that's where the leak is coming from. It's not a lot but over time it will be an issue.

The toilet is a Thetford Aqua Magic II. I did see on a google search something about these toilets being sensitive to both too high (makes sense) and too low water pressure. Oddly enough the campground we're in was experiencing a significant leak in their water system so the water pressure was running around 20lbs. Typically, it's right around 40-42lbs of pressure. The toilet was fine Friday evening and all day Saturday when pressure was more normal.

Is this a common issue where a seal in the fool pedal fails?

Look forward to any tips or feedback.

Yup. They sent me seal kits for my two units. Front bath still dropped and rear started again. Jayco replaced both and now fine

While your down there now is the perfect time to install a shutoff valve for that future problem. Now you'll be able to provide water to the rest of your unit and not really upset your vacation plans. Shark fittings are super easy to do and a good time to teach the kids about plumbing.

Tunce the Traveler--

Fortunately, I noticed a shutoff valve has already been installed so I guess it's a matter of nailing down what parts I need to repair this thing.

Found the Thetford repair kit to fix this issue. I found a decent price from RVupgradestore.com--Thetford 42049 Aqua Magic Style II Water Valve Replacement Kit. Hopefully it arrives before Friday when I head back up to our camp.

Thanks for the responses. Apparently this is one of those periodic repairs one must do.

Remove that toilet and replace with a Dometic 310 or 320. the Thetford aqua magic 2 toilet is junk and will fail and flood your camper. The valve and gasket assembly fails after a couple of years where you have to grease the seal and it wont hold water and even with a rebuild kit it will still fail. Many Many people have had issues with that toilet and you are now having it also.

I do not agree that the Style II is junk. My trailer is a 2011 and all parts of the trailer have bee used extensively. I have replaced the water valve - easy to do - and the ball seal valve (the one in the middle between the two parts of the toilet). This replace was not difficult, either.

The hint I have been making is that it is a good idea to squirt a little silicone lubricant into the water valve. The valve is open to the outside, usually covered up by the foot lever. If you press the foot lever down, the valve interior becomes accessible. Since I have been doing this lubrication occasionally, I have had no issues with the valve. One issue without the lubrication is that it makes the foot lever return not far enough, which makes water leak out of the bowl; with occasional lubrication this has not happened. The lube also makes the water valve O ring seal last longer.

I had a Thetford for 3 years full timing doing the same thing as you. grease this, spray that remove this, and one night the toilet didn't hold water as usual and it filled the black tank and flooded the camper. We are not the only ones to have that happen. On my other forum the first thing to go is the aqua flood with many many issues involving that toilet> Why keep messing with the Thetford aqua magic 2 when you can replace with a toilet that dosent need any of that attention and you don't have to disassemble the toilet to remove the ball seal. The Dometic is the only way to go and now i sleep better at night, Its not the matter of if, but when it will flood your camper and it will. It starts by not holding water and then it hold the lever a little were the valve leaks, fills the black tank and that's when it happens a flood if you dont keep an eye on it. When our new pinnacle gets here the first thing to go is the Aqua 2 toilet, the dealer is replacing it with a Dometic 320. But its your camper so Good Luck. Were just sharing with some others our experience with that toilet.

I was really disappointed with the Thetford Aqua Magic Style II water valve fix. I had high hopes for it, but it ended up being a complete waste of money. The product didn't fix the issue I was having with my water valve and ended up causing even more problems. The instructions were also very unclear and confusing, making it difficult to install properly. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

I had mixed feelings about the Thetford Aqua Magic Style II water valve fix. While it did fix the issue with the water valve in my RV, it didn't last very long. I expected the fix to be more durable and long-lasting, but it started to malfunction again after just a few weeks of use. For the price I paid, I expected better quality. I would suggest looking for a more reliable and durable water valve fix option.

I regret purchasing the Thetford Aqua Magic Style II water valve fix. It did not work as advertised and did not solve the problem with my water valve. I followed the instructions carefully, but the fix didn't seem to make any difference. It was a waste of time and money, and I ended up having to find an alternative solution for my water valve issue. I would not recommend this product to others.
