Sacred Rituals and Ceremonies in the Abramelin Tradition of Magic

By admin

The sacred magic of Abramelin the Mage is a renowned grimoire that contains a system of invocations and rituals aimed at attaining the knowledge and conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel. It was written by Abraham ben Simon ben Moses Levi, a Jewish mystic, in the 15th century and has been highly influential in the occult community. The main idea behind the sacred magic of Abramelin the Mage is the quest for spiritual enlightenment and connection with one's divine higher self. The grimoire presents a step-by-step process that involves rigorous preparation, including physical and mental purification, as well as the recitation of specific prayers and invocations. One of the central concepts in this system of magic is the invocation of the Holy Guardian Angel, also known as the Higher Self or the Augoeides. This divine entity serves as a guide and mentor to the practitioner on their spiritual journey.

The Book of Abramelin tells the story of an Egyptian mage named Abramelin, or Abra-Melin, who teaches a system of magic to Abraham of Worms, a German Jew presumed to have lived from c.1362 - c.1458. The magic described in the book was to find new life in the 19th and 20th centuries thanks to Mathers' translation, The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage, its import within the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and later within the mystical system of Thelema (adapted from the philosophy of Fran ois Rabelais in 1904 by Aleister Crowley).

Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers, born as Samuel Liddell January 8 or 11, 1854 - November 5 or 20, 1918 , was one of the most influential figures in modern Occultism. He is primarily known as one of the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a ceremonial magic order of which offshoots still exist today.
