Noel J. Pagan Jr., 21, died of blunt force trauma to the head and neck, Carbon County Coroner Bob Miller said, and his death was ruled an accident.

Pagan went over a snow jump and fell around 6 p.m. Sunday, Blue Mountain spokeswoman Tricia Matsko said. She said the man was not wearing a helmet.

Pagan was taken to Palmerton Hospital, where he died, Matsko said.

She described it as a single-skier accident. She said the resort’s ski patrol is also investigating.

Pagan’s death was the third fatal skiing-related accident in the area this year, the second at Blue Mountain.

The previous weekend, 80-year-old Rudolf Huber was skiing on a trail at Camelback Resort in Monroe County when he crashed after skiing over a drop on one of the slopes. He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest and died from complications of multiple injuries.

On New Year’s Day, Connor Golembiewski, 17, of Flemington, N.J., died after falling from a ski chairlift at Blue Mountain.

Blue Mountain Resort was also the site of two fatal accidents in 2018.

Grygoriy Sologub, 53, of Philadelphia died Jan. 21 after another skier ran into him on a slope, authorities said.

On March 15, 20-year-old Euna Shin of Piscataway, N.J., was pronounced dead one day after she suffered head injuries from a fall while snowboarding, authorities said.

AUBURN — Three people were hurt and Main Street was closed for an hour Friday after a pickup collided with a tow truck at about 2 p.m.

Police said 32-year-old Christopher Sashner, of Alabama, drove his 1997 Dodge Ram through a stop sign on Laurel Avenue where it was struck by a tow truck driven by 35-year-old Noel Pagan, of Lewiston, who was headed north on Main Street.

Sashner and two of his passengers were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston to be examined for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. Pagan was not hurt.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Main Street, in the area near Rolly’s Diner, was closed for about an hour while crews cleaned up the scene.

The crash remained under investigation Friday night.
