The concept of a witch sitting on the moon is a curious and imaginative image that has captured the attention of many over the years. In folklore and mythology, witches are often associated with supernatural powers, magic, and the night. They are portrayed as mysterious figures who possess the ability to harness the forces of nature, including the moon. The moon, with its ethereal glow and mystical presence, has long been a source of fascination and inspiration for humans throughout history. Its phases, from the full moon to the crescent moon, have been believed to influence various aspects of life, such as fertility, the tides, and even human behavior. In many cultures, the moon is seen as a symbol of feminine energy and cycles, closely connected to the goddess and the divine feminine.

In many cultures, the moon is seen as a symbol of feminine energy and cycles, closely connected to the goddess and the divine feminine. The idea of a witch sitting on the moon combines these two powerful archetypes to create a striking and evocative image. It conjures up images of a witch perched on the moon's surface, perhaps gazing down at the world below or casting spells under the moonlit sky.

Winter Wonderland: How To Inject Some Christmas Magic Into Your Interiors

We’re well into Xmas preparation now, so thought we would bring you some gorgeous decorative ideas for the season (along with some of our tiles, of course!). And at the same time we would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and naturally, we are very eager to see your festive interiors, so do send us your pics!

Season’s Greetings

If you’ve spent time getting your front-of-house looking good this year, and especially if it’s involved a new step or front porch, then a dramatic front door wreath is an absolute must-have! This is from a selection at Interflora, each real-fresh-flower wreath is individually made by a local florist and delivered to the door.

Step into Christmas

Get the Xmas vibe going from the front doorstep with a jolly doormat. This is the Let It Snow Doormat from Cox & Co. They look very good with our darker grey outdoor slabs, such as Granito, which are available in both Grey and Black.

Outdoor Celebrations

We’ve been discussing outdoor living and garden entertaining for ages now, and found that through lockdown lots of our customers were creating fabulous outdoor bars, as well as landscaping their terraces and gardens to provide outside summer spaces. Of course, with the addition of some blankets, outdoor lights and perhaps a firepit there’s a very good reason to create outdoor entertaining spaces for the winter months too. Just add hot toddies, mulled wine or hot chocolate. This gorgeous outdoor furniture set is the Ascot Modular Sofa Set B from Bridgman. Consider our Nebraska Oak Outdoor Planks in porcelain for a tough, practical and hardwearing outdoor deck.

Christmas in the Kitchen

We’re definitely fans of decorating every room in the house for Christmas – including the kitchen! Open shelves make it easy, and we love a wreath in the kitchen too. This is from a selection at John Lewis, with twinkly lights scattered along the open shelves too … although fairy lights are perfectly acceptable all year round, of course! And get that traditional-practical kitchen style with classic white splashback tiles, such as our Metro Matt White.

In the Pink

Christmas doesn’t have to be red, gold and green. Go for a pink-themed Christmas table with these classic Pink Linen Napkins, from the Chalk Pink Linen Company. Add pink and green table decorations for a festive touch – and feel rather happy that your pink theme will also translate into summery celebrations as well.

Rose Gold Inspiration: If those soft shades of Chalk Pink are appealing, take a look at our Village Rose Gold wall tiles, which are also available in a square format. They look very on trend when teamed with gold accessories, such as bathroom fittings or kitchen taps and drawer/cupboard handles.

A Touch of Blush

A bowl of baubles with some displayed along the mantelpiece or console tables is an easy way of adding Christmas colour to your interiors – especially if you don’t fancy fiddling around with garlands and hooking things up. These are pastel pink and green decorations from the Champagne Sparkle Theme at Dobbies

Emerald Green Inspiration: Match up your tiles to your decorations with our Village Emerald Green Wall Tiles – a classic colour that works throughout the home, giving a natural, grounded feel.

Suspended Creations

Feeling creative? Get the baubles out, along with a hoop base (from craft and hobby stores), some greenery and string or ribbing for the bindings and to suspend the decorations. The green and red baubles here are from the Festive Field Theme at John Lewis.

Driving Home for Christmas

We just really, really like this! Camper Van With Gifts decoration by Cream Cornwall.

Keep it Cosy

Get that guest bedroom sorted out with some cosy new bedlinen. This is the Fairisle Red Duvet Set from Julian Charles. They also have a good choice of throws and blankets if you need to stock up for those wintery outdoor entertaining occasions!

Red Inspiration: If all the Xmas palaver has made you think a little more about red as an interior theme colour, here’s our Metro Red Wall Tile. You’re welcome

Creative Concepts

We adore this creative floral Christmas tapestry concept from Dobbies. This is a real focal point creation and could replace your Christmas tree – so it’s a space-saver too. All the instructions on how to create this beautiful panel are available here.

Orange Inspiration: Add some zingy colour to your home with our Metro Orange Wall Tiles – just the job for a swathe of cheerful colour in the kitchen or bathroom (and this shade looks amazing with black bathroom fittings too). See some ideas here from our sister company, Bathroom Mountain

A Grande Finale

For a rather lovely grand Christmas statement, consider the Harewood White Spun Cotton Light Up Reindeer Family from Lights4fun. The trouble is, front garden or back garden? Although we would be tempted to show them off in the front garden, we rather like the idea of having them just outside the sliding kitchen doors to see more of them every time we have a mince pie!

This imagery is often associated with nocturnal activities, magic rituals, and the realm of the supernatural. One interpretation of the witch on the moon is that it represents a connection between the earthly realm and the spiritual realm. The moon, with its association with the divine feminine and the occult, serves as a portal or gateway for witches to access their powers and commune with higher forces. It symbolizes the witch's ability to transcend earthly limitations and tap into ancient wisdom and knowledge. Another interpretation is that the image of a witch sitting on the moon is a reflection of societal perceptions and fears surrounding women, magic, and the unknown. Witches, throughout history, have often been portrayed as powerful and independent women who challenge traditional gender roles and societal norms. By placing a witch on the moon, it further emphasizes their otherworldly nature and their deviation from societal expectations. In popular culture, the image of a witch sitting on the moon has been depicted in various forms of art, literature, and media. It has captured the imagination of many, serving as a visual representation of the mysterious and magical.
