The Rhode Island School of Design Has Some Awesome Sports Logos

Originally, this blog’s intention was to bring you offbeat college team names and logos and we’ll bring you that blog soon. In my research though, I have found a college that tops them all and deserves its own blog. As you know, Awesome Sports Logos was created to bring back the fun and creativity in sports logos. Kudos to R.I.S.D and their club teams for joining us in our cause. So on this weekend of epic college football rivalries and week 12 of NFL football, we bring you a college that I have to buy some gear from.

The Rhode Island School of Design Nads

Chants of Go-Nads can be heard during home games which are played at the Brown University Meehan Ice Rink. I just love how the chant of “Go Nads” is emanating from an Ivy League campus. Their mascot which can be seen cheering in the stands is called “Scrotie”. Here are some great pics of “Scrotie”. I promise, we’re not making this up.

I love their logo with two hockey pucks put in a perfect place. Here’s a great sign promoting an upcoming hockey game. Women’s Soccer

The Rhode School of Design Jugs

It’s an indoor club league and I couldn’t find any pictures but it’s a great name!

The Rhode Island School of Design Rhode Kill

This is a great name especially with the spelling of road using “Rhode” from Rhode Island. Now I saw their t-shirts and it seems as though they are in need of a Rhode Kill logo. We can certainly help them with that. Here is our version of the Texas Roadkill.

Not many Armadillos in the “Ocean State” so we’d have to adjust the species a little bit.

RISD Balls basketball

Apparently Balls basketball draws quite the crowd. I even saw a picture of a lovely lady playing with the Balls. Get your mind out of the gutter, I’m serious, here she is.

Here’s the logo. Notice how there is two basketballs in the net which is extremely clever.

I also love how they promote their games. Hilarious!!

H uge kudos to the Rhode Island School of Design club teams for their clever designs and use of words. We just might have to see if any of their graduates want to have some fun by designing some sports logos.

Speaking of clever use of words and designs, we bring you two of our designs and begin with the Intercourse Witnesses

There is actually an unincorporated village in Pennsylvania named Intercourse. Intercourse is a popular place because of its name and because it’s in the heart of Amish country. The Amish sell crafts and take tourists on horse rides. Visitors also have a knack for stealing signs because of the Intercourse name. This village was the setting for the 1985 movie Witness starring Harrison Ford. The movie was nominated for 8 Academy Awards and won 2. Thus, the Intercourse Witnesses were born on this awesome sports t-shirt.

This holiday season we also bring you the Climax Fiddlers

Each fall, Climax, Virginia hosts the Moonshine Jamboree. Moonshining is big in this area and so is bluegrass music. I wear this funny t-shirt all of the time.

One again props and kudos to RISD for their creativity which we think is awesome!

Thanks for reading and remember this holiday season you don’t need Black Friday or Cyber Monday to get a good deal. Buying a super soft t-shirt from Awesome Sports Logos will bring you lots of holiday cheer.

Save Scrotie

In 2001, History was made when RISD students came together and unveiled what is possibly the greatest artistic endeavor to ever come out of our esteemed institution- Scrotie the Scrotum was born as RISD's unofficial mascot.

Quickly, students at the school embraced our new figurehead. He's become a celebrated icon of our school.

RISD recently has "Launched a new identity". Part of this campaign includes a new color scheme, font, and merchandise. It also includes quietly erasing our beloved Scrotie.

What many of us thought was just a silly rumor of RISD getting rid of our mascot, is all but confirmed in our Course Catalog with the winter session course titled "REDESIGNING OUR IDENTITY" where Its description reads: "Harnessing the irreverent humor of our former mascot this studio class will engage students to develop the "brand" or identity of our new mascot."

RISD Students were not asked for their opinion on desecrating our current mascot.

They say "RISD has never had an official, institution-wide identity before", but many of us feel as if this is not true. RISD's identity exists within the collaboration of its community members. It's found in the way students embrace each other's creations. This is exemplified in no better way than through the decades of love and enthusiasm students have shown through Scrotie, The Balls, The Nads, The Pricks, and every other sports team and club with a playful name.

Scrotie was born, and continues to live, through the love of RISD students.

RISD's rebranding is centered around the idea of "asking Questions".

But the real question that should be asked is, Why is the school trying to take away a part of what makes our university great?

Controversial sports team mascots

The Washington NFL team announced that they would retire the "Redskins" logo and change their name. Activists have long pressured the team to rebrand, since the word is widely considered a slur against Native Americans.

On July 23, the team issued a statement saying they would begin the 2020-21 season as the "Washington Football Team" pending the adoption of a new name.

Many people, including sports commentator Dick Vitale, celebrated the change. But just a day before the old name was retired, the phrase "Hail to the Redskins" was trending on Twitter, as some fans expressed nostalgia for the old name.

This NFL franchise is far from the only team with a problematic mascot. You can find caricatures of ethnic groups — often Native American nations — slurs, or glorified references to the Confederacy on sports merchandise, even today.

Here are some of the other teams that have had controversial mascots through the years.

One of the highlights of Magic Village Yards is its unique concierge services. Guests have access to a 24-hour concierge team that can assist with arranging theme park tickets, transportation, dining reservations, and other personalized services. This allows guests to enjoy a hassle-free vacation experience.

Washington Warriors?

Some of the potential replacement names for Washington include the Warriors and the Redwolves.

On June 2, 2020, the team posted a black square on their official team Instagram page, signaling solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. Many responses included a plea for a team name change. But it wasn't a social media campaign that spurred the Redskins' owner to ditch the name.

Reviews for "The Perfect Family Getaway: Magic Village Yards in Kissimmee"

1. John Doe - 1/5 stars - The Magic Village Yards in Kissimmee was a complete disappointment. The place was overcrowded and the service was terrible. Our room was dirty and smelled like mold. The amenities promised on the website were either broken or not available. The worst part was the noise level - we couldn't get a peaceful night's sleep because of the constant loud music and people talking loudly outside. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation.
2. Jane Smith - 2/5 stars - Our experience at the Magic Village Yards in Kissimmee was subpar. The customer service was lacking and slow. Our check-in process took forever, despite being pre-booked. The cleanliness of the room was also disappointing, with dust and stains on the furniture. The location was convenient, but the noise level from the neighboring units was unbearable. We will not be returning to this property in the future.
3. Mike Johnson - 2/5 stars - I had high hopes for the Magic Village Yards in Kissimmee, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The room we were assigned to was not clean upon arrival, and we had to request housekeeping to come back and clean it properly. The pool area was often crowded and noisy, making it difficult to relax and enjoy. The overall atmosphere of the resort was underwhelming, and I would choose a different accommodation option for my next visit to the area.
