A 1 st level magic-user with Detect Magic or Read Languages can make a killing money-wise identifying true items from false for a local noble or adventuring parties, interpreting documents, and deciphering treasure maps. My concern is about the fun factor of the class, both for the player who actually plays the character, the other players in the party, and the DM running the adventure.
