Splash Magic AKA "Yogi On The River" in PA..anyone been there?

First off - hope it's okay to post here, another dis'er suggested I did.

We are expanding our horizons and going CAMPING this summer for our vacation. One reason only: we're broke! This campground is only 2 hours away and the website looks like it's pretty fun, however I am a little skeptical.

It used to be called "yogi on the river" and is in Northumberland, PA but now it's changed names to "Splash Magic" . We are renting an on-site RV and staying their mid-week in order to get the following for free: fishing, bumper boats, bike rentals, and mini golf. Sounds like a great deal.

I would love to hear from someone who's actually stayed there and can give me peace of mind (or a warning I may need to hear). And also to see what else we can do while there.

BTW - someone for the other board mentioned it had a water park coming. I didn't see that on the website or have it mentioned to me when I made the ressie. anyone hear of this?

Welcome to camping, I have never been to this park myself but I was able to find a couple of good reviews for it. Here are the links Campground review and rvparkreviews . One of the reviews said it was close to Knoebels which would definitely be worth a visit. If you are not familiar with Knoebels it is an old fashioned pay as you go amusement park.
Good luck, I hope you enjoy your trip!

ok - we stayed there last year (before the new water park was done) and loved it! we are planning an other visit there this year. they are only 30 min away from a nice little family amusement park. (Knoebls - spelling. )

a little insight on that "water park" thing. they had a regular pool last year and they had up sketches of what they were to be adding for this year. a larger pool area with a large specified kiddie area with a few fountain areas. New bumper boats area on the lake too.

the rest rooms were clean. they had tons of kid activities. tons of rental stuff too if you feel like ploping down the cash. we enjoyed the river front sites. take along your fishing pole as you don't need a liscence to fish on their property. (pond or lake fishing i believe as they have a pond too) we enjoyed hearing the freight train that passes along the tracks on the other side of the river. for us, it sounded like old home. for my 13 YO niece, it was an abomination (a train going past at 6 am blowing it's whistle)

i say go for it - we might see you there.

Reviews for "Soak Up the Sun at the Splash Magic River: The Perfect Summer Destination"

1. John - 2/5 - I was really disappointed with Splash Magic River. The rides were outdated and in need of repairs. The water was also dirty and had a weird smell. The staff didn't seem very friendly or attentive either. Overall, it was not worth the price of admission and I wouldn't recommend it to others.
2. Sarah - 2/5 - I had high hopes for Splash Magic River, but it fell short of my expectations. The water slides were overcrowded and some were even closed for maintenance. The food options were limited and overpriced. The overall atmosphere was also lacking, as it felt more like a run-down amusement park rather than a water park. I won't be returning.
3. Mark - 1/5 - Splash Magic River was a complete disappointment. The water quality was questionable, and I saw several people complaining of rashes and other skin irritations after visiting the park. The staff seemed disinterested and didn't address these concerns. The facilities were also in poor condition and in need of attention. I would strongly advise against visiting this water park.
4. Emily - 2/5 - My experience at Splash Magic River was far from enjoyable. The lines for the water slides were incredibly long and took up the majority of our time at the park. The water temperature was also too cold for comfort and made it hard to relax in the pools. The overall cleanliness of the park left much to be desired as well. I wouldn't recommend this water park to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing day out.
5. Mike - 3/5 - Although the water park had a decent selection of rides, I was disappointed by the lack of maintenance. Many of the slides had visible wear and tear, and some were even closed for repairs. The park also felt overcrowded, making it difficult to fully enjoy the experience. The food options were limited and the prices were quite high. Overall, there are better water parks to visit.
