From Adversaries to Allies: The Evolution of the Midnight Occult Civil Servants' Characters

By admin

Midnight Occult Civil Servants is a manga series written and illustrated by Yōko Tamotsu. The story revolves around the characters who work in the “Midnight Occult Civil Servants” department. This department deals with supernatural occurrences and events that occur in Tokyo. These characters have special abilities that allow them to interact with and resolve these supernatural incidents. One of the main characters is Arata Miyako, a young man who starts working in the department and discovers his ability to understand the language of supernatural creatures. He is accompanied by his partner, Kohaku, who is a mysterious and playful fox-spirit.

It’s quite understandable why he’s taken to being so realistic when dealing with Anothers, but it also is one of his faults. This is especially apparent in episode 11 as he very nearly gets Japan destroyed because of his hatred for Anothers. He absolutely hates that the government had sided with Arata during that specific ordeal in episodes 10 and 11, but it’s unclear whether it’s truly affected him in any way. He has tons of potential for being a good guy we love to hate, but we just don’t know much about him!

When the Civil Servants get involved, its Arata who steps in to defend the Anothers from his fellow humans and temporarily smooth things over between the humans, tengu, and angels. Arata seems like an incredibly plain character until he realizes that he has an ability called the Ears of Sand which allows him to communicate with Anothers.

Reviews for "Secrets and Betrayals: Unraveling the Intrigue Among the Characters of Midnight Occult Civil Servants"

1. John - 2/5 - I found the characters in "Midnight occult civil servants" to be quite shallow and one-dimensional. None of them really stood out or left a lasting impression on me. The protagonist, Arata, was particularly underwhelming, as he lacked any distinct personality traits or development throughout the series. The supporting characters were equally bland and lacked depth, making it hard for me to connect with any of them. Overall, I found the character development in this anime to be quite weak and ultimately disappointing.
2. Sarah - 2/5 - I was really disappointed with the characters in "Midnight occult civil servants". They all felt very cliché and predictable, lacking any originality or uniqueness. The main female character, Kyoichi, was portrayed as the typical tsundere love interest with no other defining characteristics. The rest of the cast seemed to fit into typical anime tropes without any real depth or exploration. I was hoping for more complex and interesting characters, but unfortunately, this anime fell short in that department.
3. Alex - 1/5 - I couldn't find any redeeming qualities in the characters of "Midnight occult civil servants". They were all so forgettable and uninteresting that I struggled to even remember their names. The lack of character development made it hard for me to become invested in their stories or care about their fates. Additionally, the dialogue between the characters felt forced and unnatural, making it even more difficult to connect with them. Overall, the characters in this anime were a major letdown and one of the reasons why I didn't enjoy it.
