The acting was overall good. Burl Ives gave the best performance and Deborah Walley was impressive. Hayley Mills was Hayley Mills which isn’t necessarily a bad thing and Michael J. Pollard was Michael J. Pollard, which also isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I wasn’t particularly fond of Eddie Hodges’ performance.

Carey comforts her saying that her adoptive parents are doing better financially and are willing to take Julia back if she wants or she could stay with the Careys. She herself feels personally attacked when jumped on by Peter s dog, Sam, in the middle of the night, and she struggles to adapt to the primitive ways of Beulah, even making Osh s daughter, Lally Joy, help her bathe in the kitchen, not wanting to lug the kettles of hot water up the stairs.

As the Careys settle into their new home, Nancy discovers a secret room hidden in the attic. In this room, she finds an old letter that unveils a secret treasure buried somewhere on their property.
