As with all previous Harvest Moons you can upgrade your house plenty of times, get married, have a Kitchen and cook up a bunch of different recipes, a Chicken Coop and Barn and of course grow crops. What further sets this game apart though from the others before it is being able to fully customize your house inside and out.

Harvest Moon Magical Melody Review
Harvest Moon Magical Melody is one of the two Gamecube Harvest Moon installments and is the one that holds true to the Harvest Moon series. The other one for the console is much more story driven and doesn't focus on the farming elements as much. Magical Melody is probably my favorite Harvest Moon ever and I am a huge fan of the series. This is the first Harvest Moon that I am aware of that let you buy land and move your house anywhere you want in the town. You can also build your Barn, Chick Coop and all other essential buildings anywhere you want too.
Essentially, you have absolute freedom to position whatever you want anywhere you want. I really love that about this Harvest Moon and I think that's what makes this game the best in the series for me. I usually put my house far in the upper left hand corner of the town, by where the Harvest Goddess is. I clear out all the rocks and trees throughout the town and make certain areas fields for Oranges, Apples, Grapes and such. It's really awesome and I had a total blast doing it all.

Story? What story? Oh, right, the one where you have to collect the Musical Notes and bring them to the Harvest Goddess to save her. Honestly I have never met anyone that plays Harvest Moon for the storyline. That said I think we can fairly give the storyline an N/A.
The soundtrack for this game isn't anything to write home about but it's also not very lacking either. I felt that the songs each season were very fitting but none of them really that catchy. So I can't really complain about the soundtrack nor can I praise it for its individuality.
The graphics for this game are great. I mean, the best we've seen in a Harvest Moon so far if you ask me (not including future systems of course). There's no graphic tearing or graphical issues I encountered in the game, in fact this game usually runs better than most of the others I play which probably means it uses a lot less of my GPU that most other games. That should tell you how bad I am at rating graphics in games!

Again, can't say I have a single complaint about the controls in this game. Everything felt great and was really fluid. I played this game on the Dolphin Emulator with an Xbox One controller. It has all the buttons needed to play the game and worked great. Also I even was able to bind my Emulator Speed Up button to the controller which came in use for this game when cycling through all those items to toss in the shipping bin!
The unique gameplay of Magical Melody far outclasses almost all of the Harvest Moon games that came before it. As far as Harvest Moons go this game is definitely in the top 3 of the series. The amount of customizability in this game is absolutely nuts. On top of that they've finally refined the relationship system in this Harvest Moon. Just talking to villagers will give you relationship points with them now and also relationship points won't plumit over time like they do with some of the older Harvest Moons.
The only thing I can think of that I feel this game left out is the Inventory size of the Nintendo DS Harvest Moon. I really like how things in that game stacked up to 99 and you had massive amounts of inventory space. The constant back and forth can be quite annoying when all your crops blossom on the same day. All in all though, I have to say Harvest Moon Magical Melody really is quite a magical ride. See what I did there? I know, so clever.
