Breaking the Spell: Hunting for Blackbeard's Curse in the Caribbean

By admin

The curse of the black bird is a tale that has been passed down through generations, often whispered in hushed tones around campfires. Legend has it that in a small, remote village nestled deep within the woods, a curse was placed upon a particular black bird. The curse was said to bring misfortune and sorrow to anyone who crossed its path. According to the story, the curse was cast by an old witch who resided in the village. The black bird, known as the harbinger of darkness, had been a favorite companion of the witch, who used its powers for her own nefarious deeds. But as the black bird grew older, it became restless and sought to break free from the witch's control.

How to work out your skin tone:

It's best to do this wearing no make up - wait 30 mins after washing your face as any scrubbed skin may appear pink and give a false reading.

Hold a white piece of paper up to your face.

Looking in a mirror, try to see how your skin looks in contrast to the white paper. It may appear to have a yellow cast, a blue-red or rosy cast, or it may not appear to be either, but a grey colour instead. What colour does you skin appear at the side of the paper?

  • Yellowish or sallow beside the white paper, you have a warm skin tone.
  • Pink, rosy, or blueish-red, then you have a cool skin tone.
  • Grey, your skin probably has an olive complexion with a neutral undertone. The green from your complexion and the yellowish undertone combines to create this effect. You can experiment with neutral and warm tones, since you fall somewhere in between.
  • If you can't determine any cast of yellow, olive, or pink, you have a neutral skin tone. Neutral tones can look good in foundations and colours on both ends of the cool/warm spectrum.

Another way to do this is to look at what colour jewellery you wear.

  • If you suit gold you more than likely have a warm skin tone.
  • If you suit silver you more than likely have a cool skin tone.
  • If you can wear both colour you more than likely have a neutral undertone.

But as the black bird grew older, it became restless and sought to break free from the witch's control. Enraged by the bird's disobedience, the witch cast a spell that transformed the black bird into a vessel of doom. From that day forward, the bird was destined to bring dark days to anyone who encountered it.

Storybook Cosmetics Wizardry and Witchcraft Palette | Review

A full makeup line of products inspired by our favorite stories? Now that is a major dream come true for me! I’m a huge bookworm so when I saw Storybook Cosmetics announce they had big plans with collabs and products, I constantly stalked their Instagram account. They first launched a set of wand shaped makeup brushes which I was lucky to grab in the first release. Then they announced they were working on this palette that I’m about to review for you all! I was so happy to preorder and although shipping commenced a few months after preordered, it was well worth the wait!

About the Brand

Storybook Cosmetics was created by three sisters – they’re triplets in fact – Erin, Mandy, and Missy! They went viral in October 2016 with their wand shaped brushes! Since then, they’ve been working incredibly hard to create and deliver top of the line products inspired by stories. Currently, their shop features Wizard Wand Brush Sets, Bullseye Brush Sets, What’s In A Name Brush Set, and the Wizardry and Witchcraft Shadow Palette!

About the Product

Here’s a description of the palette from their website:

This is a magical palette featuring a custom hardcover storybook with a dozen highly pigmented matte, metallic and pearl eyeshadows. The cruelty-free, long wear, buttery smooth shadow formula can be used wet or dry. Mix and match to concoct your favorite spellbinding look.

Mystical shades include:
Broomstick: rusty brown (matte), Sorcerer: ruby red (metallic), Cloak: graphite grey (matte), Potions: emerald green (metallic), Prophecy: pearly white (pearl), Salem: frosted pewter (pearl), Merlin: sapphire blue (metallic), Bewitched: coppery gold (metallic), Cauldron: charcoal black (frost), Spell Book: rich mahogany (pearl), Charms: shell pink (matte) and Jinx: shimmering silver (metallic).

The patent pending Wizardry and Witchcraft Eyeshadow Palette Book™ features a gorgeous vintage style storybook complete with gold foil details and full-sized mirror. This one of a kind book is worthy of any beauty archive.

Cost and Shipping

This palette costs $52 and Storybook Cosmetics ships worldwide excluding China, Thailand, Mexico, and South America. Some products may be available to US only due to licensing restrictions.

Packaging

When I first saw sneak peeks of this product, I thought the packaging looked bulky. The design seemed cute and all but I wasn’t sure if I’d like the idea of shadows in a bulky book shaped palette. However, I had full faith in these talented ladies and the packaging is absolutely gorgeous! The palette comes in a sleeve and both come in a pouch with their logo in the center.

The palette is the perfect size and the vintage style with gold foil details is beyond stunning!

I love the detailing that went behind the packaging with the quote they have right below the mirror inside!

I also love the back of the palette and sleeve. The back of the palette has a quote they created that I really adore, “Once upon a time, there were three sisters who never stopped believing in fairytales…and they all lived happily ever after.” Below that is their copyright information and logo. The sleeve has all this plus the shades and ingredients listed.

Formula

The formula is buttery and the shade range is what I had hoped it would be – magical. I found all the shades to be blendable and pigmented. The metallics ands pearls are more pigmented than the mattes, but that’s something I tend to expect with all palettes. The swatches are without primer and one layer of product. I love that there’s a gold and silver, green and blue, and basically just a bunch of different colors I associate this theme with!

Final Thoughts

I had pretty high expectations for this palette. Not just the formula, but the packaging as well. I know I won’t use this palette daily but I knew that before purchasing the palette. I love supporting indie brands, especially brands with great customer service and a team of people who love what they do and care about their customers and fans. The team behind Storybook Cosmetics does just this! I’m looking forward to their upcoming projects that are planned to release this year along with what else they have coming down the road.

Curse of the blackb

Its feathers turned black as night, and its piercing eyes glowed with an otherworldly light. Word of the curse spread, and soon the black bird became a symbol of fear and dread. In the village, people avoided it at all costs, fearing the misfortune that would befall them if they were to cross its path. It was believed that bad luck, sickness, and even death could strike those who dared to defy the curse. Over time, the legend of the curse of the black bird took on a life of its own. Superstitions and rituals were developed to ward off its malevolent power. People would carry talismans or recite prayers to protect themselves from the curse's effects. Some claimed to have seen the bird lurking in the shadows, its haunting caw a forewarning of the suffering to come. Despite the fear surrounding the curse, there were those who sought to break its hold. Brave individuals ventured into the woods, following the path of the black bird, in search of a way to lift the curse. But none returned, their fate adding to the mystery and terror of the curse. To this day, the curse of the black bird remains a cautionary tale passed down through generations. It serves as a reminder of the dangers of meddling with dark forces and the consequences that may follow. Whether the curse is real or simply a figment of imagination, its legend still sends shivers down the spine of those who hear of it, a reminder of the power of belief and the stories that endure..

Reviews for "The Haunting Truth: Blackbeard's Curse Comes Ashore"

1. John - 2/5 - Unfortunately, "Curse of the blackb" didn't live up to its promise. The storyline was weak and predictable, with no element of surprise or suspense. The acting was subpar, and I found it difficult to connect with any of the characters. The special effects were also disappointing, and didn't add any excitement to the film. Overall, I was quite disappointed with this movie and wouldn't recommend it to others.
2. Emily - 2/5 - "Curse of the blackb" was a major letdown. The plot was convoluted and hard to follow, and the pacing was inconsistent. I found myself bored throughout most of the movie, with the few action scenes failing to make up for the lack of a compelling story. The film also relied heavily on CGI instead of practical effects, which only served to further detach me from the already weak storyline. Overall, I wouldn't recommend wasting your time on this film.
3. Sarah - 1/5 - I was highly disappointed with "Curse of the blackb." The dialogue felt forced and unnatural, and the performances were lackluster. The movie lacked any sort of depth or originality, and it felt like a cheap attempt at cashing in on a tired genre. The editing was also choppy and confusing, making it difficult to follow the narrative. Overall, I found this film to be a waste of time and would advise others to steer clear.
4. Mike - 2/5 - "Curse of the blackb" had a promising concept, but it failed to deliver. The characters were two-dimensional and lacked development, making it hard to care about their fate. The pacing was slow and didn't build up to any satisfying climax, leaving me feeling underwhelmed. Additionally, the special effects were mediocre at best, failing to create a believable and immersive world. Overall, this movie fell flat and left me disappointed.
5. Jessica - 1/5 - "Curse of the blackb" was a disaster from start to finish. The writing was laughably bad, with cringe-worthy dialogue and nonsensical plot twists. The acting was equally terrible, with actors delivering their lines with no emotion or conviction. The film also suffered from poor direction, with scenes feeling disjointed and lacking cohesiveness. I couldn't wait for this movie to be over and would warn others to stay away.
