Once your feet are back on the ground, you have a few choices. If you’re here to ski (yes, skiing is an option for most of the year), you can transfer to the Palmer lift, which continues up the mountain to Palmer Glacier. (That ride is not included in the cost of a Magic Mile ticket.)
Granted a rope replacement is already a massive undertaking, just on the two rope replacements I ve been on,one was rope only the other we doubled up the project so to speak pulled the motor to have it rebuilt dropped the drive bullwheel did bearings. It s gotten progressively slower since I rode it in 2016 I go most every June and has gotten to the point where it s got me wondering if it s due for an overhaul like I said, it it almost 30 years old after all, which is an age where most HSQ s are either getting replaced or massively overhauled.
The views from the Magic Mile lift are truly breathtaking. On a clear day, visitors can see panoramic vistas of Mount Hood and the Cascade Range. It is a photographer's dream, with opportunities to capture stunning shots of the surrounding alpine scenery.
Chairlift Rides
Mt. Hood has six unique ski resorts to choose from, most of which have chairlifts to transport visitors up the mountain’s magnificent slopes. Several of the lifts operate in the summer months for those who want to experience the views or gain access to hiking or mountain biking trails. The granddaddy of them all is the Magic Mile Sky Ride at Timberline, which takes riders to the 7,000-foot point of 11,249-foot Mt. Hood, where not only Hood’s summit but Palmer Glacier and nearby Mt. Jefferson are visible.
As of 2010, discussions are ongoing about the possibility of building an aerial gondola to connect three Mt. Hood areas—Timberline, Ski Bowl, and the new Collins Lake Resort. This aerial tram would allow visitors to park in a central spot and easily access multiple ski resorts.

I was really disappointed with the Timberline Magic Mile. The entire experience felt overhyped and overpriced. The so-called "magic" mile turned out to be just a regular ski slope with nothing exciting or magical about it. The staff seemed disinterested and unhelpful, and there was a long wait time to even get on the lift. Overall, it was a letdown and I would not recommend it to others.
