Into the Night: The Terrifying Curse of the Loup Garou

By admin

The curse of the loup garou is a legendary and terrifying phenomenon that has been part of folklore and mythology for centuries. The term "loup garou" is derived from the French words "loup," meaning wolf, and "garou," meaning werewolf. It refers to a creature that is believed to have the ability to transform between human and wolf form, typically during the full moon. The curse of the loup garou is said to be inflicted upon an individual, usually as a result of a curse or a bite from another werewolf. Once the curse takes hold, the afflicted person is said to experience a gradual transformation into a wolf-like creature during the full moon. This transformation is often accompanied by heightened aggression and a bloodlust that compels the loup garou to seek out and attack humans or animals.

According to Chaunzaggoroth, St. Patrick [Footnote 1] cursed the ancestor of Harley MacFinn to become a loup-garou. He also placed two addenda on this curse: That it would be hereditary, passed down from parent to offspring; and the MacFinn bloodline would never die out. [2]

This fact might have to do with an element of sacrifice and is probably one of the sources for the modern myth of silver weapons and bullets being used against werewolves and other supernatural creatures. The Loup Garou Curse

Spoilers for Fool Moon I guess?? If you haven't read the second book, get off reddit and go read it you lucky person you.

I've read the books several times, and am currently listening to them for the first time. I'm on Fool Moon, and something I never really thought about before jumped at me this time around.

First off, the Curse. Now, supposedly, Saint Patrick cursed an ancestor of Harley Macfinn with the curse of the Loup Garou, and a part of the curse is that it prevents the family line from ever completely dying out. This way, one family member will always have the curse. This is where things get interesting.

Why would a Saint, curse someone to become a ravenous, unstoppable monster on the full moon? A Saint, by definition, would derive their power from faith in God, so we would have to assume that there are "good intentions" from this curse. But what? It also seems like something that requires a lot of power to pull off, so most likely he had help from an Angel. This whole thing seems Old Testament, plagues, droughts, fire and floods.

“He’s…sort of Old Testament,” Bob said. “You know the guy who killed the firstborn children of Egypt? Him. Other than that, well. There’s only suspicions.” That's the description of Uriel we get, so it stands to reason, Uriel backed Saint Patrick in his curse. The question still remains. Why?

Which brought me to my second thought, since Harley Macfinn dies . Who has the curse? There are your obvious guesses, some other Macfinn, a niece, nephew, etc. But the fun guess would be Harley Macfinns child with Tera West.

What child you ask? The Theoretical one I made up. Think about it. How cool would that be? Tera West is implied to be a wolf that learned to shift into a human. Macfinn was a Human cursed to turn into a near indestructible monster of a wolf. Their child, would be. full of possibilities.

It could also be a link back to the first question, why the curse. We know Uriel is "Heavens Spook". Maybe this was his plan, to recruit an unstoppable wolf/human/loup garou amalgamation to fight on his team during the Apocalyptic Trilogy Jim has promised us.

TL;DR Lovechild of Macfinn and Tera West is end game of Loup Garou curse, to be a power forward in Dresden's Lineup.

The curse of the loup garou

In some cases, it is said that the transformation can be prevented or reversed by certain rituals or charms, but these methods vary depending on the specific cultural beliefs surrounding the loup garou. One of the most fascinating aspects of the curse of the loup garou is the psychological and emotional toll it takes on the afflicted person. The loup garou is often depicted as being tormented by their dual nature, battling between their human conscience and their animalistic desires. This struggle can be seen as a metaphor for the internal conflicts and temptations that exist within all humans. In popular culture, the curse of the loup garou has been the basis for numerous books, movies, and TV shows, further perpetuating the intrigue and fear associated with this mythical creature. **The curse of the loup garou continues to captivate audiences and serves as a reminder of the power of legends and ancient folklore in shaping our imaginations and understanding of the supernatural**. Despite the fact that the existence of werewolves remains purely fictional, the curse of the loup garou will likely continue to spark fear and fascination in the hearts of many..
