Bob Books Reading Magic: A Tool for Parent-Child Bonding

By admin

Bob Books Reading Magic is a reading app designed for young children to help them learn and practice reading skills. The app is based on the popular Bob Books series, which uses a systematic and phonics-based approach to teach children how to read. The app features a variety of interactive activities and games that are engaging and fun for children. It includes levels that gradually increase in difficulty, allowing children to progress at their own pace. The app also includes audio support, so children can hear the words and sentences spoken out loud as they read. One of the key features of Bob Books Reading Magic is the inclusion of phonics-based activities.

Once you do that, then you go to a separate screen to fill in the word. When you tap each letter, the app makes the sound that letter makes. At the bottom of the screen, they have spaces for you to drag the blocks to as well as the letter that goes in that box lightly drawn. Once you have dragged all the letters to the correct boxes, it sounds out each letter than says the whole word while colors fill the outline. There are different levels of this part as well for more advanced readers. This includes not having the letters traced and including more letters that are not in the word to see if you were paying attention.

The original Bob Books series was created by Bobby Lynn Maslen, a preschool teacher who developed the first books as individualized educational materials for her three-to-five year old students. One of the key features of Bob Books Reading Magic is the inclusion of phonics-based activities. This helps children understand the connection between letters and sounds, which is crucial for developing reading skills. The app also includes activities that focus on sight words, which are frequently used words that children need to memorize and recognize quickly.

Bob Books Reading Magic: Keep or Skip?

In my most recent article, I reviewed an app called iWriteWords to see if it was worth keeping or if a different educational app would be better. For this article I will do the same thing except I will be reviewing an app called Bob Books Reading Magic. As you can tell form the title, this app will help teach kids how to read words, sentences, and eventually stories. The following screenshots show the order of how the app is set up. You start with a blank drawing with a sentence at the bottom. To start, you would click on either the sentence or part of the picture which in this case is a person.

When you have finished the whole sentence, the whole picture fills with color and the drawing turns into a short animation. In this example, Mat sits on the grass, picks up a dandelion and blows it into the wind. When you have finished the sentence, then the next one is unlocked, leading to longer and more challenging sentences. The full version does require you to purchase it.

After reviewing this app, I would say keep. It is interactive and takes it step by step, so the child doesn’t get confused. The app is easy to use, and the child can advance whenever they feel ready. The animations at the end are cute and are a good way to keep the kids entertained. It can get them thinking, “Let’s get this right so I can see what the person is going to do”. Moreover, the ability to level up when you get it right can boost a kids sense of competence and confidence. This makes for a happy child and a happy parent. I would certainly recommend this app to any teacher or parent.

Parents can also adjust the difficulty of the Bob Books apps as needed, to keep it fresh and challenging.

Reviews for "Bob Books Reading Magic: Bridging the Gap Between Phonics and Comprehension"

1. Angela - 2/5 - I was really disappointed with Bob books reading magic. The interactive features were not engaging and the activities felt repetitive and uninspiring. My child quickly lost interest in the app and didn't find it helpful for learning to read. I would not recommend it.
2. Mark - 3/5 - While Bob books reading magic had some good content, I found the app to be quite glitchy and frustrating to navigate. The audio often lagged or didn't work at all, and the activities would freeze or crash frequently. It had potential, but the technical issues really hampered the overall experience.
3. Emma - 2/5 - I understand that Bob books reading magic is geared towards young children, but I found the visuals and graphics to be too basic and unappealing. The characters lacked depth and the overall design felt outdated. It's hard to keep a child engaged when the app itself is not visually stimulating. I would recommend exploring other reading apps that offer a more visually appealing experience.
4. John - 1/5 - This app simply did not work for us. It crashed every time we tried to open it and none of the activities would load. We tried reinstalling it multiple times, but the issues persisted. It was a waste of time and money, and I would not recommend it to anyone.
