Great copy. It has both the US and Japanese versions. Both are gapless on this release. Both sound great, but I prefer the original Japanese as it sounds more natural to my ears.

how does this release sound compared to the older cd pressings for both mixes? ive heard mixed things about the 2000s remasters (such as solid state survivor), but i haven't heard anything really about this set. is it worthwhile for me to purchase older pressings if i already have this ordered?

Sorry, I just get whats so special about these pressings. iv got this album and the live album and there. alright but nothing special. and definitely not worth what they're selling them at. eBay has some for up to £50, witch is just stupid. It would be nice to for someone to make something more to the original pressing.

Sound quality is stunning. For comparison I think it sounds better than my 1980 pressing of Solid State survivor. Also awesome that both versions of the album are included. Glad I didn't skimp and buy a cheap US original, never realized how many minor differences there are between the two. Japanese version remains my favorite. The scans inside the gatefold are low resolution. The jacket is really glossy. Overall really happy with this version and this is a great way to go if you want the Japanese version.

Reviews for "Yellow Magic Orchestra: A Discogs Guide to Their Early Years"

1. John Doe - 2/5 - I was quite disappointed with Yellow Magic Orchestra's discography. I had heard so much praise for their electronic music, but I found it to be rather dull and uninspiring. The beats felt repetitive and the melodies lacked any sort of innovation. I understand that they were pioneers in the genre, but that doesn't necessarily mean that their music still holds up today. Overall, I was underwhelmed by their discography and wouldn't recommend it to others seeking exciting electronic music.
2. Sarah Smith - 3/5 - While I can appreciate the impact that Yellow Magic Orchestra had on electronic music, I personally didn't connect with their sound. I found their music to be too experimental and chaotic for my taste. The disjointed rhythms and disjointed melodies felt more like noise to me than enjoyable music. However, I can see why some listeners might find their music intriguing and groundbreaking. It just wasn't my cup of tea, and I would suggest approaching their discography with an open mind if you're a newcomer to their music.
