My experience using Magic Shaving Powder on body and pubic hair

Hey guys. Thought I could maybe share my experience using this product, as I'm the type of guy who tends to research old threads on reddit before trying something out, and I figure people might find what I write helpful. I'll be using a bullet point format as that'll probably be easier to read.

  • I'm a Portuguese and in my 20s. I've never been particularly hairy, though I have a decent amount of hair on my arms and legs, and a pretty good beard if I say so myself. Although the hair on my head is dark brown, my body hair seems to be a lighter shade. Also I'm a little fair skinned. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I don't Mediterranean stereotype, but then again there's a lot of us who don't.
  • Even though I'm not particularly hairy, I do have a bit of chest hair, mostly in the area between my collarbone and nipples. I've always found it looks silly, as though I shaved the bottom part of my chest hair but decided to leave the rest untouched.
  • I've always had problems with shaving my chest. I try to shave slowly and in the direction of the grain (rather than against it), but that never seems to work even if I'm using a new razor. If I actually want to shave my chest hair off I have to glide the razor in different directions. This of course has lead to me having shaving bumps in the past, which is why I try to exfoliate my chest beforehand and use moisturizer (and sometimes Sudocrem) after.
  • Shaving my pubic hair is also a pain. I'm personally not a fan of the smooth look, but I do like having a smooth shaft and testicles. For some reason I have blonde-ish hair in those regions, which I always found looked ridiculous. The issue is that my pubic area is particularly prone to shaving bumps, and also I dread using a razor on my testicles.
  • Summary thus far: Not too hairy, but have annoying chest and pubic hair and shaving it with a razor is both a hassle and leads to shaving bumps and ingrown hairs.
  • After having read a bunch of different threads on different subs, I came to the decision to try a depilatory cream, namely Magic Shaving Powder, so I ordered this .
  • Once my product had arrived I followed the instructions, adding two teaspoons of powder into a bowl and an equal amount of water. Actually at first I added a little too much water, which made the mix a little too runny, so try not to do that. If you do you'll need to add more powder, which means you'll waste more product. The goal is to get it to have a thick paint-like consistency.
  • I applied the product whilst my skin was dry, putting it on my entire pubic area and chest. I didn't want to be completely hairless down there, but I figured I should just get of everything to begin with and then later on I'd be more meticulous with grooming my pubic hairs.
  • I began to wait the required 5 minutes. At this point I actually began to freak out, as I should've actually tested the product on a small area beforehand. If you look up using depilatory creams on your genitals you'll come across many horror stories, but for some reason I only remembered that after applying the product.
  • As I waited I began to feel an odd sensation. Like a stinging sensation, but not exactly painful. Thankfully I didn't experience any chemical burns like some other people have. I guess my skin is just resistant, as I've never really had any such problems. I should probably add that I'm uncircumcised (as are most of us in Europe), though I'm not sure if that makes a difference with regards to hairs on the penile shaft.
  • I should also mention that it really began to smell. I believe the gold version of Magic Shaving Powder is better in this regard, but the blue one smells like rotten eggs.
  • Once the 5 minutes were up the product had dried up on my skin. It basically looked like dried paint. I hopped into the shower and started removing the product with water and a microfiber cloth.
  • The hairs came off very easily, though in some areas I had to scrub a little harder for them to come off. But basically there was no pain at all in removing them.
  • The next day I decided to apply it on my legs. Not that I wanted smooth legs, but I did look odd with a just completely smooth pubic area.
  • The process was pretty much the same as with the other parts I mentioned, however, I did start to feel some pain on my right hand. I used my right hand to apply the product the previous day, and I think by doing so it acted as a chemical exfoliator. Thus the skin of my right hand was a lot more sensitive, which led to a somewhat painful stinging sensation (nothing outrageously painful though).
  • I would not recommend applying the product on the same area again until after a few days.
  • Anyway, days later I began to notice some bumps. Nothing nearly as bad as when using a razor, but I was lead to believe that Magic Shaving Powder didn't result in any sort of bump or ingrown hair, which as it turns out wasn't the case. That being said my chest was fine, only the pubic area and my legs acquired any bumps.
  • To sum it up: Magic Shaving Powder worked much better than any razor did in removing hairs from my chest and pubic area. I thankfully experienced no rash or chemical burns, but I would suggest testing the product on a small area first. I was still susceptible to bumps and ingrown hairs on my pubic area and legs, but nothing nearly as bad as when I use a razor. Also DO NOT apply the product on the same area until after some days have passed.

So that was my experience. I'm sorry if it was a little longwinded (I have trouble summarizing). I'll definitely be using Magic Shaving Powder again, though strictly for my chest, shaft ,and testicle hairs. I might try exfoliating my skin beforehand, and perhaps a few days after using the product, in order to avoid getting any bumps or ingrown hairs. Maybe some antiseptic cream too, I don't know.

If anyone has any questions I'll be happy to answer them.
