Ravens' mascot. Poe, carted off field at halftime after being hurt against AAU team

The Ravens had to bring out the cart during their preseason matchup against the Commanders. But it wasn't for a player.

Instead, it was for Poe, the team's mascot, who appeared to suffer a leg injury at halftime during an exhibition against a Baltimore AAU youth football team. Poe was examined by trainers and then driven to the locker room.

Trainers supported Poe's left leg as the mascot was being lifted onto the cart.

Poe had been playing in a game with fellow mascots at halftime of Ravens vs. Commanders. The Ravens won the game 17-15 and extended their preseason winning streak to 23. No final score was reported in the AAU match, but Poe did throw a touchdown pass to a fellow Baltimore mascot.

A video of the incident showed Poe being tackled in the backfield and immediately clutching the left leg.

Poe made a miraculous return to the field after the incident, although it's most likely that the team brought in its second-string mascot to fill in for the injured started.

Poe made a victory trip to UD's Newark campus on Friday, July 11, showing off the jersey of UD alumnus Joe Flacco, who recently joined the Ravens.

“This was a win for the organization that is the Baltimore Ravens, a win for the city of Baltimore, a victory for Ravens fans near and far, young and old!” Poe exclaimed.

“This is a victory for all us with feather laden wings, thick flowing manes, rigid scaly fins, jagged sharp claws, long pointy horns,” Poe said. “This is for those of us with the oversized shoes to fit our paws, hooves and talons in. This is a victory for true mascots of the NFL!”

Poe, named after Edgar Allen Poe, took down Steely McBeam, the Pittsburgh Steelers' mascot, and T.D. the Dolphin, Miami's mascot, in each case with an overwhelming 70 percent of the votes. His final foe in the conference finals was Billy Buffalo, representing the Bills, whom Poe plucked out with 53 percent of the votes.

Injuries were a major storyline for the Baltimore Ravens during the 2021 NFL season, and they are dealing with another one ahead of the 2022 campaign.

Instead of it being a player this time, it is a feathery contributor on the Ravens’ sideline.

Poe, the team’s mascot, was carted off the field after suffering an injury in a matchup between mascots and a youth football team during halftime of the Ravens’ preseason finale against the Washington Commanders on Saturday.

On Thursday, head coach John Harbaugh made the announcement that Poe would be on injured reserve for the rest of the season due to a “drumstick” injury.

“We will find a replacement,” he said. “We’re going to work on that right away. We’re going to turn over every stone, scour everywhere and find his replacement. We’re going to get right into evaluating our options, see where we go next and see if we can find somebody to replace Poe.”

Reviews for "The Fisher Price Coffee Brewer: Creating Moments of Pure Bliss"

1. Samantha - 2/5 - I was really disappointed with the Fisher Price Magical Coffee Brewer. First of all, the coffee tasted terrible. It had this weird plastic taste that was incredibly off-putting. Secondly, the machine was not user-friendly at all. The buttons were small and hard to press, and the instructions provided were not clear. Overall, I would not recommend this coffee brewer.
2. John - 1/5 - The Fisher Price Magical Coffee Brewer was a complete waste of money. The first issue I had was with the size of the machine. It was way too small to brew a decent amount of coffee. Additionally, the coffee it produced was lukewarm at best. The machine also lacked a timer function, which made it inconvenient to use. Save your money and invest in a better coffee maker.
3. Emily - 2/5 - I had high hopes for the Fisher Price Magical Coffee Brewer, but unfortunately, I was let down. The biggest problem I had with it was the durability. It broke after only a few uses, and it was not covered under warranty. The coffee it produced wasn't very flavorful either. I would not recommend this coffee brewer to anyone looking for a reliable and quality machine.
